Might still have to wait a few days, I think Rata is the only one playing it right now on PS4. Most everyone else here is waiting for the Steam release in a couple days.

PC master race can't even right now.
Such graphics.
Much framerates.
I'm waiting on Steam because amazon screwed me on delivery date.
I havn't played much with the equipement but from what i understood from the notes is this
You can upgrade a weapon up to +3
So exemple the Blood Sword (Velvet default weapon) will start as blood sword, then + 1 +2 +3, you can upgrade only in shops. and it cost money + materials to upgrade, when you upgrade the weapon or armor you can unlock some skills to it
that's pretty much it.
Artes are learned by leveling up and you can set them as you want
exemple for PS4, you have a line for Triangle, 1 for circle, 1 for Square and 1 for Cross and you can put 4 skills per line.
So you can mix up artes in different lines, or as for me atm I have 1 line for Earth artes, 1 for wind, 1 for light and 1 for fire. and you can move around in a combo, exemple if you start on Square and then do cross it will do the first ability of Square then 2nd of Cross
The souls gauge (getting bounced back when empty is kinda annoying to get used to but it's fine after) ( you start with 3 souls and when you stun an ennemy you get +1 till max of 5, if you use the R2 command (forgot the name) you loose 1 soul.
I would stream to show you all but Gayco blocked streaming directly from PS4
So there's nothing like having to match equipment and symbols and shit to get bonuses? If it's just a straight upgrade of weapons/armour I could be down for that. Actually sounds like the best method yet for these types of games.
honestly the part of Zestiria that bothered me the most wasn't even the gear leveling/symbol matching stuff, if was how most of the party members really only seemed to be there to be merged with so you could have specific elements to fight bosses with, leaving you with really only 2 characters per fight >.>
From cursory reading based on the JP version it's basically like Vesperia's system where each specific weapon/armor has a skill that you can learn permanently once you "master" the equipment. But each piece of gear also has 2 skills that show up when upgrading and 1 random skill you get upon purchase/drop. These skills can't be permanently learned.
There is a bit more depth to it than that and some Zestria RNG fuckery involved with the random skills (and how they drop/unlock) but they are mostly tertiary bonuses like Attack+ and you won't have to worry about skill combos or hoping for a triple skill drop.
The Tales of Berseria Game Mechanics Guide over at gamefaqs has a lot of the details but might have some spoilers towards the end so read at your own risk. The stuff about equipment and skills is right at the beginning so if you just read up to that you'll be fine.
I kinda get what you mean. Doing the crucibles with certain characters was fun, though.honestly the part of Zestiria that bothered me the most wasn't even the gear leveling/symbol matching stuff, if was how most of the party members really only seemed to be there to be merged with so you could have specific elements to fight bosses with, leaving you with really only 2 characters per fight >.>
Lailah's was a fucking nightmare though.
Absolutely agreed.
Also started playing this on PS4. Digging it so far.
Lailah's didn't give me much trouble, Edna was the nightmare for me just because I never took manual control of her before.

I dunno if someone else have the same issues, note that i,m on PS4 pro
Not too far into the game, there's a fight were Velvet learns her Mystic Arts (It's scripted) when that moment happen my game kinda froze for 2-3 Seconds then she did her mystic art
Not long after, i was fighting trash and game froze again for 2-3 seconds then Roguro did his mystic arts
Anyone else had those 'freeze'?
Game is really fun, much more then i expected
Not too far in myself but it does seem better then Zestiria so far.
Steam version unlocks pretty soon, and if you played Zestiria on PC as well, the guy (Kaldaien) who made the "fix" for it already has one up for this game. Can find it in the discussions.
Whats the fix for? I didn't play Zest on PC.
The main thing it did was unlock 60FPS I think, some audio fixes plus some additional graphical fixes and updates (better shadows, additional aspect rations). Seeing as Berseria is supopsed to have 60FPS from the get-go (if I remember correctly?) then once again it's probably some graphical stuff and things like FPS counter or PS trophy sounds.
Since Berseria is a better port off the bat compared to Zestiria (which was capped at 30 fps), atm it's mostly a host of general graphic improvements and better frametiming, along with the option to replace in game button prompts with Dualshock buttons.
In it's current form all his program fixes have auto-update support, so you can just install it once and generally forget about it. He's also the guy who did all mods for the Steam version of Final Fantasy X/X-2. The work he's done on games like Zest, X/X-2, Symphonia, and the like are fucking top notch.
