I found Eizen and Rokurou pretty easy to play as, but yeah Magilou is a bit weird to get the hang of.

on another note i'm right at the end of the game and I'd honestly have to put this on par with Vesperia and Abyss for me in terms of how much fun it is.

I liked Magilou in the demo. Canceling enemy spells is fun. I was wary after I didn't particularly like controlling anyone in Zestiria but I might take the plunge on this one before a sale happens.

It's a million times better than zestiria. The equipment system is pretty good, too

Speaking of, the AI fix using vjoy (or whatever) is now integrated into tbfix. Instructions for setting it up are covered in the 0.7.0 release notes https://github.com/Kaldaien/TBF/releases/tag/tbfix_070

Well it lets your party actually do more then one move at a time and actually use mystic arts and such, so it's a pretty dramatic difference if you weren't using the extra controllers trick.

Game definitely feels quite long, which isn't a bad thing. It feels like I'm only halfway through the story with all this time played, though I'm taking my time, it doesn't feel like I'm progressing THAT slow, but who knows.

At the moment I have a shitload of gald with nothing to really spend it on, hoping this changes later and gald becomes more useful for something, which I imagine to be endgame related.

Also kinda wish the ship was more useful other than bringing back food mats once you've obtained the unique stuff already, but I guess its best it stays the way it is now with how easy it is to abuse. Although, the ship is what got me a bunch of gald to begin with.

I finished the main story at 48 hours, and that was on moderate with very little side stuff done, game was a good length

Got to spend more time with the game today and man, this is definitely way up there for the series.

The party mostly being a bunch of selfish assholes who just more or less have a common goal is also a nice change of pace from your usual JRPG tropes.

What! Were you lucky with some treasures? I struggling with money all the time. I once got a treasure that sold for 21k so that was helpful but that only lasted so long

Well, I abused the ship thing to get all recipes and stay full on mats of the recipes I use, some of those areas just happened to have some nice selling treasures. When I was done collecting mats from voyages, I decided to sell all my items with bag icons again and I made so much off the stuff from voyages and some stuff I had on me that sold well that didn't come from voyages, like the pirate flags.

edit: I didn't know the pirate flags are from the ship as well, that definitely explains how I made 700k so easily then.

So don't crucify me but I didn't enjoy Zestiria's story all that much. It felt realllllly slow at times and the pacing was off. The characters were okay. Berseria is like the whole opposite feeling for me. The characters personalities are really strong and the story is just jumping. Every time I put down the controller I come back excited for the next step. There are a few times where I'm going back and forth but they seem to knowingly have added the fast travel points right where I'd probably get pissed off for running through the whole dungeon again.

All in all, enjoying it a lot more than Zestiria. Also playing Berseria might rekindle my desire to play Zestiria and finish. I'm probably only a 1/4th of the way into the game tbh.

The battle system has me daydreaming about playing Tales of Graces f again too for whatever reason.

You're not wrong in thinking Zestiria was less then stellar, I had to force myself to finish it and didn't do any side stuff, the whole armitization system felt really shitty to me because it was basically the game telling you that you're really only getting two characters to use in battle.

I loved Zesteria, perhaps it was because I played Co-Op with my brother so 2 characters erased the retarded AI from the game, which is fantastic. Side stories were great, the end game area was fun, and I enjoyed the story from start to finish. There were some things left untouched I felt, and it covered a bit of it in the little DLC, but other than that, was great.

To me anywho. Disliking it is fine too

For whatever positive feelings you feel about this game I wouldn't relate them to Zestiria or Graces F. The battle systems for both games (especially Zestiria) is a lot worse than this.

The story for Graces is pretty bad even by Tales standards, while Zestiria you could probably enjoy depending on how you handle melodrama (and Sorey).

I didn't think the story was that bad in Zestiria. Nor did I even really mind Armatization because it let you do more things without having to bounce between characters (and on higher difficulties it wasn't always the best idea). What really bugged me was the equipment/skill board bullshit. And Graces had the same garbage with the item synthesis stuff.

But the story in Graces F was... yeah.
