The test of free speech is not the cutesy story about the grade-schooler whose blog about school lunches was censored by the school, but the willingness to stand by the terrible shit-shows which you don't agree with and are hard to put up with.

This has nothing to do with the First Amendment.



Freedom of Speech just means the government can't pass laws limiting what we say. Reddit is a private company and can do as they wish. They also have a responsibility to make it as profitable as possible for their owner. This may be a dick move to many of their users, but it is a move that will reassure their advertisers.

I've been on Reddit for years, and never heard of those subs before yesterday. Personally I feel if you don't like certain content you can easily avoid it. But Reddit is a business and they have to make decisions that they believe will best impact the bottom line.

The internet doesnt take censorship well. Especially on a massive site like reddit. I expect more subs to get the axe (but not srs) and then people jumping ship. Voat seems to be recommended but its too laggy and visually similar to reddit, I think
