Please put your FF7-1 Disc into the system.
Please put your FF7-3 disk 2 into the system
In the old days the whole game was usually on each disc, the only reason they had to be split up was because of FMVs.
They could have gone the Diablo 2 route where if you didn't have enough hard drive space when a FMV came up you were prompted to put in the disk for it to play. That way you could skip the cutscene if you wanted.
Was it really? I thought only as much as the player could reach was put on each disk, making disk 3 the "shortest" because by then you're traveling the whole world and doing all the side quests you didn't complete from the previous two cds, leaving much less room for the rest of the game. Disk 1 and 2 wouldn't need a lot of this because travel was restricted for so long.
For instance, Disk 1/2 doesn't need the Northern Crater on it, Disk 3 doesn't need Sector 7 shit in it, etc.
Areas in the PS1 era games hardly constituted any memory at all, they were 2D backgrounds.
It would be more work to remove "unnecessary" files from each disk (and risk accidentally breaking something) than to just leave them there.
Meanwhile the FMVs could take up hundreds of MBs each on discs that were only like 600-700MBs big.
Note how the last discs of each game tended to be the shortest game-wise but generally had the most FMVs for all the big fancy final scenes.
Ya it was proven the game works when you're on Disk 1 and you change discs in battle and most of the game still funtions, barring the important bits where the FMVs on the relevant discs were.
Huh, the more you know.
No FF7 for E3, Maybe TGShttp://gematsu.com/2016/06/tetsuya-n...d-2-8-iii-moreNomura states that the game is still a while away, but not to worry and that production is going at a steady pace. He also states that concrete information on the game will be released at a later time and that when it is next shown, he will appear publicly to reveal it.

I'm not seeing anything official but a lot of places are saying March 2017 for the first episode release date.
5 months, wow. That's not a lot of time to get farther than what they've shown already. Really do wonder if the first episode is only the Midgar stuff.
incoming 6 60 dollars games over the next 6 years :D
