In some cases, voices can be matched in the event a given actor dies or is unavailable. And yeah, sometimes a director just decides to not care and go with someone else entirely. It's a risk any media that goes for a sequel/seasons/remake takes.

Personally, I thought it was a gargantuan mistake to stop using Lance Bass as Sephiroth. Almost toppled SE and made them go bankrupt worse then the failure of 1.0 FFXIV. Originally Posted by arus2001

I think he was alluding to the cover system. I don't see why I'd want a cover system against the majority of enemy types from FF7.
Yo, I know you got that enemy skill I want Mr. Zolom, but I gotta hide behind this tree right quick first.
Am I missing something? I haven't played KH in ages, did they add a cover system to that? I assumed this game was gonna be closer to FF12 and KH than any FF game, but this is completely out of left field.
