I'm still iffy on spending this much creative time and effort on a remake and not a new game but I just know I'm gonna be fucking watching the launch timer go down March 2nd.

I don't know what you would want? Crisis Core exists to give a story of the events that lead up to 7, we have 7, dirge fills a time gap between advent children, and then we have advent children which should be the end of it all with the remnants being killed off and the last of that we're aware of jenova being absorbed/destroyed in the process. Where do you take the story from there? Fleshing out 7s story is the ideal way to handle things going forward. We're aware there was some sort of connection or bond between Cloud and Jesse that was never given a chance to be explored because the two moments she asks you to be safe and shows she cares for cloud are then meet with her getting seriously injured and then having a fucking plate of midgar dropped on her just to make sure she's dead.
Theres an entire generation of gamers who missed out on ps1 games, and probably didn't get into gaming until the middle to end of the ps2. This is coming out at a perfect time imo.

Just re-watched the trailer, no PC release date. Wonder how long the wait will be this time.
Just about every 20-something gamer that I talk to at work has never played FF7. Most of em started with FF13. So, yeah, this is a perfect way to reintroduce the story to people. Not to mention older fans like us have been dying for a remake. It'll also make SE a buttload of money lol more like a fuckton
It’s a well known fact a lot of FF7s original story was continually changed up to the very last minute. There’s even unused lines from characters like Aerith well after her death and it’s widely known Tifa was a last minute addition.
Gonna be interesting to see what they change or reuse.
Just noticed against the Air Buster in the trailer Cloud is using his second weapon. Hardedge? I think it's the one you can usually steal from the soldiers in the Shinra Building.
Just pre-ordered the deluxe edition :D. Reaaaaally considered the 1st edition because I'm such a fan, but just couldn't bring myself to pay a couple hundred dollars more for the motorcycle figurine and carbuncle summon.
I'd bet ff16 has a general outline and some art drawn by now. Nothing digital, but super high up concept art.

Love what I'm seeing, and they've mentioned before they are adding a lot of content, so I can see Midgar being just one game, though I see they did cut some Tifa content already. My biggest fear is that this ends up like Xenogears in that the first 2/3rds of the game will have epic content, and then the last will be rushed as hell due to production issues and blowing budget on the early parts of the story, not to mention waiting to play one story for some 5-10 years (hi2uKingdomHearts?). Fans can be fickle and we've seen SE have issues with long projects before.
Eh, part 2 is the real test cause if this ends up being 3+ parts, the most time intensive part will be making an overworld for part 2.
That same overworld would just be reused in subsequent parts, unless they're locking you to continents plot wise all the way through. Doubt this though, cause of chocobos, weapons, and golden saucer.
Also, everything already looks so fucking amazing. We wont see weapons in part 1, but when we do finally see weapons jfc my body wont be able to contain myself.

True, but the first game was released as a whole lol. I'm talking about development time saved by not having to remake an overworld for the "sequel".

FF7:R might as well be FFXVI with the production value this thing seems to have.
Keyword being "seems".
Yeah, I'm just saying it's not an issue for the remake because unless they majorly revamp the story you can't freely move around until you're almost at the end of the game. By then they'll have the entire world done through normal progression and it's only a matter of reusing assets.
Kitase apparently confirmed they're planning to have Japanese VA available for the West too.
