My ideal pacing would be having everything up until the boat ride to Costa Del Sol be in EP1, just because Midgar is big but can be finished quickly for the most part. Don't forget that there's a lot of time and effort that goes into voice acting, and cutscenes and events will take longer just because of having to wait for people to talk instead of speed reading like we all usually do (at least I know I do). At least finishing the episode at leaving Juno would give us Cloud and Sephiroth's backstory, A LOT of exploring, chocobos, etc.

Even considering that though, you could easily beat Midgar in a day; hardly worth releasing such an anticipated game's first episode for something that lacking. They say they want to add things and flesh it out, but even then Midgar is midgar. Shit was ridiculously short when you consider the series of events that led to you leaving Midgar.

Either way it's disappointing because you have the chance to remake one of the goat games into some thing epic. You have top tier studios taking their time to release goty candidates. Imagine the backlash if MGS5, GTA5 or new Zelda game did this. If Nintendo or rockstar said yea fuck it were not releasing a full game just "episodes"

Remember "Fabula Nova Crystallis"? What happens to the other episodes if the first is received poorly or doesn't sell well.
I'd rather wait two years for a full epic game then a disjointed experience. Oh well was nice while it lasted

Nomura: If we tried to stuff the whole game into one release, some part of the game would have to appear as digests. We'd have to remove some contents from the game, and it would be difficult to add more to the game. Considering that a full remake of the original game must be achived, we have decided to split the game into episodes.

Splitting the original version into episode with nothing dropped, as well as adding complements, and remaking the game the game in its full volume is what we are thinking.
