WELP. Probability of a shitshow goes up at least 10%.The multi-part format enables us to expand the original story
Yep, could be good, could be bad...all depends on the bait they use to get people to buy the next episode. All they truly have to do is incorporate Before Crisis and Crisis Core into the original story and it's fine.
Hey, a man can dream!
A man can dream. x_x;
I mean, it kind of makes me sad because FF6 really did have so much heart in it and a personal favorite (not that that matters very much haha).
But of course FF7 is going to be more popular! They've invested a crapton of resources into it, more than any other numbered FF in the series by far overall. A movie, tons of spin off games and cameos... 3D being a really new and exciting frontier and attracting a wider audience than normal compared to the usual 2D presentation.
It was just the right Final Fantasy at the right time.
Alas, even if it may be "delusional", one can always hope for the FF6 remake that may never come. Maybe, just maybe...
I feel like 8 did so well BECAUSE of 7. The reviews and everything had 7 at the top, and everyone loved it so much they went out and bought 8. It's certainly not regarded anywhere close to 7 in terms of epicness or memorable moments except for the weird handful of people who prefer it.
There's so much that Crisis Core and Advent Children did they have to change FF7's story, I dunno why anyone would be upset by this. The FF7 we got was bare bones (and not translated right, iirc).
Hey, at least 8 didn't feel like an incomplete and rushed game. 7 is good but not that good and yes, I'm weird and I prefer 8 over 7. 8 is a game that actually tried to be unique and special in many ways, expanding upon 6 and 7 in terms of gameplay with the G.F. and Junction systems. Also best minigame in the series by far.
The inherent problem is that it's modern day SE that's creating the story. Their last decent story was, what, TWEWY? Admittedly I haven't played Type-0 and heard it was okay, but I don't know if the story is actually good.
8 is certainly polarizing, but regardless of if a particular person likes it or not, you have to respect the balls they had to say "Hey, 7 was far and away our most popular game yet. We could stick as close to that formula as possible, but fuck it, let's change EVERYTHING." Hardly any companies do that these days, it's all about tiny incremental changes with yearly releases.
As far as the DLC, I totally called it.
Just so long as we don't get a Xenosaga train wreck, I'm okay with them expanding the story. This is probably because I'm not so nearly invested into it as some of my friends. 7 clocks in at 3rd or 4th fave FF game for me.
Gonna hate the fact that Barret and Cid are going to be censored up to fuck. Fuck that's depressing.
Can we not turn this fucking thread into a "What's the best FF thread?" please.
FFS. Every time.
Best FF is w/e FF that Zetanio hated
