Change a defining moment in gaming history? Yeah, maybe some dialogue gets changed around and voice acting helps to put some more emotional weight on the scene but Aerith dies, fanboys cry. So long as Cloud doesn't pull a 'what am i fighting fouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur!?' I think we're safe.

It wasn't just Aerith's death that got me but her theme playing over the JENOVA-Life battle. Feels were had. Even if that battle is a complete joke with a Water Ring.

Also I'm interested in little touchups like actually seeing Sephi drop Jenova on the team while flying away. In the original game, it's just a flash of lights then boom.

Oh no. My reaction was a NNNOOOOOOOO, followed by crying as you see holy drop and fall into the water with the music playing in the background.

The actual fight with JENOVA? I fucking turned Super Saiyan with Kaioken and unleashed the fury upon her. I'll never forget the ass whooping I have her the first time I went through that scene. Think Dragon Ball Z on Namek when Frieza kills Krillin and Goku first turns Super Saiyan. That was me.

Altered, as in new direction, sure. But there is no way they're going to remove the scene of Cloud carrying Aries to the water and letting her go. That scene is as important to the feels as the actual stab. It solidifies the "oh shit were not going to use a Phoenix Down?", answer the door goodbye to her. At least until Advent Children lol.

Tifa was a poorly thought-out character because she was another late addition to the game. She was added once the development team pulled the trigger and definitively off'd Aeris. It's pretty evident when you realize she kept colossal world-changing secrets from the party about the Nibelheim incident the entire time, only later to be explained as "oh duh! I forgot!"

Can see them expanding upon the war between Wutai and Shinra in the remake.

One thing I will miss is the ridiculous amounts of %&$*%#$@ from Cid and Barret. Not something that can be replicated with voiced actors.

I don't mind seeing an episodic approach to the remake, as I agree it'd probably help portray the grandiose nature of the journey in a better light where things can be expounded upon. People like to point to the travesty that is Xenosaga, but forget Takahashi put himself in a similar situation with Xenogears. The dude is a shitty project manager, I'm convinced the only reason Xenoblade and Xenoblade X are as polished as they are because Nintendo.

I'm interested on how they're going to handle the data transfer from episode to episode. I doubt they're going to let us level the shit out of our characters before the second episode is even released.

I liked IX's AP system more honestly. The only downside was carrying around soooooo much stuff if you were prone to OCD.

Funny thing, I had an idea for that growth system after FFVI released and I wanted to design my own game. Loved seeing it in practice too

Didn't they say each episode will have a significantly different style? I almost wouldn't be surprised if they don't transfer at all, like a miniaturized version of the 13 saga.

But then when they're in Calm and he's telling the story of Sephiroth in Nibelheim, she would have spoken up since he specifically mentions talking to her in that cutscene. Unless I'm remembering that hour long flash back wrong. I should replay the game before the remake so I can make comparisons.
