$200-$300 bucks for a whole shitload of content and fun over 5 years is totally acceptable to me.

That argument goes out the window the second Cloud gives Sephiroth the black materia and Tifa still pretends to wonder why. Face it, the character as a major player was a late addition because the developers wanted at least one female in the main cast for the entire game. It's jarringly obvious and I'm pretty much it was Kitase himself who said as much.
I haven't seen it yet but is no one excited for HD cait sith? He was the true hero.
I fear that if there isn't a level cap for each episode, everyone is going to finish the content of episode 1 in like 5 days or less and then have nothing to do but painfully grind to Lv99 and cap their early materia/limits on low level mobs for months until episode 2 releases. That much OP would make combat in the rest of the episodes kind of boring/effortless until you get to new Ruby/Emerald tier DLC superbosses at the way, way end of the release spectrum. Right?
I don't want to coast through this experience; part of what made the original fun was its modest challenge. Level progress and enemy balance were pretty spot-on, and horrible bugs (e.g. M.Def earned from gear means absolute dick) added their own sort of twist. Might make some people reconsider their investment mid-way through the new releases, I dunno.
Um, she questions if he's the real Cloud throughout the game so watching your friend give such an important item to a bad guy would be unnerving and cause you too wonder if you were right all along.
If she was meant to be a minute character she wouldn't play such an enormous role in the late parts of the game.
Face it. Aerith was always supposed to die and nothing about Tifa is inconsistent.
I honestly don't understand where he was going with that anyway.
Lets pretend he's right and at THAT very moment Tifa lost all reason to continue on... what the fuck did he expect her to do?
"Oh, well this fuckup gave that dude a materia with the power to destroy the planet. I'd better pack up and go home."
What the fuck?
They could just do like Xenosaga did and not let your levels gained convert directly into EXP for the next installment but give you an advantage in some other way instead.
I will admit to grinding my ass off after I beat XS Ep. 1 thinking I'd just blast through Ep. 2 with my super high level but it didn't go like that at all.
I don't see the issue with grinding if someone wants to. If someone wants to kill boars for 100 xp a piece when you need 1,000,000,000 to lvl up. Go ahead. If the materia system stays the same (I doubt it will) you'll end up wasting even more time having to cap out end-game materia with your lvl 99 characters.
Personally, hard level caps annoy the absolute fuck out of me. I rather games where there's not enough encounters or chances for xp to reach the hard cap. Or you can do the above method if you so choose.
Regarding price. Whatever they release we'll be buying twice. Look forward to the 4k remastered collection on PS5.
I'm sure at that point home consoles will have worked their way down to 20 fps
You confuse your shitty buying habits with mine.
I don't even purchase DLC, ever. I'm not the person you think I am, trust that I will not.
