Desktop vs Laptop HDD question

I know the drives themselves are different sizes, but do they have the same size connector?

I need another drive and I was going to get a used hdd and was wondering if I needed to buy a desktop enclosure to go with it or if I could use the enclosure I already have for my laptop (well just the connector piece; aka bare drive + connector piece connected via usb

If they both have SATA connectors

it doesn't matter if they are 3,5" (desktop) or 2,5" (Laptop/SSD).
There are only very few exceptions that use other connectors like ZIF/LIF or the long forgotten IDE.

Any drive you would be buying nowadays or the past many years is SATA.
Just get any enclosure and you are good.
