Looks like we got the bad end of the shit spatula in terms of gearsets and weaponry
I'm having a hard time time deciding which weapon is actually going to be better. AF2 Axe has 102 Crit. which is a lot, but the Gordian Axe has 102 Skill Speed, and since Warrior doesn't really have TP issues anymore (usually), it means getting to the next Fell Cleave faster.
what
Perhaps the one that doesn't have 71 parry. Tank gear in general seems like kind of a shit show this patch and it doesn't look like we're getting crafted accessories higher than 150 right now, STR/VIT disparity between the 190 set and the 200/210 is way too big to mix and match some of the really good prototype pieces too. Seems like we can at least avoid parry in every slot but the waist though, but unless the accuracy caps are pretty damn high it seems like we're going to have an overabundance of accuracy no matter what we do, which is fucking weird given they added an accuracy buff to tank stances too.
I think I'm OK with the skill speed.
I think...
Someone tell me it's OK.
It's not all right, but it's okay.
I love how literally every piece of tank gear is a choice between Parry or Accuracy.... Not a single combination of 2 of either crit/det/ss. Not one.
Edit: Hands actually do. My bad.
The only time 2 combat stats wouldn't outweigh one better scaling stat is 2.x SMN with spell speed.
It's a good thing Parry still scales with STR, right?
Quickly put together the combined right side stats for the hell of it. Since we get a base of 581 accuracy with a parry-less i210 left side I'm just going to assume all accuracy requirements are met with that + whatever is forced on you from the right side.
Full Slaying
STR 245
VIT 0
Acc 74 (655)
Crit 118
Det 58
SS 118 (632)
Full Fending
STR 0
VIT 245
Acc 206 (787)
Crit 104
Det 29
SS 30 (544)
Hybrid
STR 141
VIT 98
Acc 118 (636)
Crit 148
Det 58
SS 44 (558)
Full Crafted RS (spares in crit / det)
STR 155
VIT 145
Acc 41 (559)
Crit 83
Det 57
SS 58 (572)
For the full fending I didn't bother trading out the obviously overcapped accuracy for parry + better secondary. Don't have time to attempt to perfectly itemise for the skill speed requirement (edit: come to think of it, the wep should take care of that, heh, nevermind. edit 2: added acc and ss totals).
Full crafted is apparently better than Hybrid still. Just wish I wasn't morally obligated to give the slaying stuff to our DRG....
Edit: VIT numbers wrong. Thanks Jem,
It's the same damage increase for the raid either way, I don't see why you would be. I've never "Need" rolled VIT accessories since Binding Coil.
Dunno, I guess as a WAR I would be giving up 29 VIT for every slaying accessory in order to gain 16 STR. There is no such compromise for a DRG or MNK.
Full crafted is 145 VIT btw as the i150 cap at 29 VIT 31 STR
I see you editted the post so will make a fresh one.
Forgot to say that the consensus in the PLD thread seemed to be to do 3x VIT 4 (for 24 VIT per accesory, 120 total) and give yourself the 2 extra slots for secondaries.
This is true, except the reason you do this is for HP checks and you paid to do it. In similar past situations, that Dragoon would also be using this same gear (potentially) because of a raid damage move that everyone couldn't easily live through.
If you're going to put the accessory on, then it's the same raid damage increase.
Which is more optimal for raid dps in SA1?
Drk opening as MT as usual and Warrior doing full triple cleave opener and all that
Or
War using Unchained in opener and Drk Provoke after Pacification?
Trying to figure out too best combination of dps and snap aggro here. I definitely need to open with SE, but I'm afraid without Berserk I would lose aggro doing that. I could still do the 2.x opener with Berserk before SE, but then my Berserk would not be in Deliverance and only one FC after Unchained.
Why must at least 1 tank always be in their defensive stance in this situation?
