What's dumb to me is that Ravana's wind spam move in beetle mode, a magical attack, interrupts casting. It's like the one place I might use Clemency on myself in the fight and I can't.

The final boss in the Vault interrupts casting as well. Fortunately I've never seen it get interrupted by anything that weren't boss moves, but given that we take so many hits, it's really dumb that the casting time is 3.0s. It should easily be half of that, and it's not like we can spam the move considering it's MP cost (which I actually have no issues with).
It should just be off the GCD, like a lot of PLD's abilities. The prohibitive MP cost combined with Riot Blade still restoring a pathetic amount of MP keeps it being spammable under any circumstances.
Balance.
Spoiler: show
Isn't interrupt based on total damage taken rather than damage type? I know I've blown cooldowns to cast through heavy attacks sometimes, though the CD defeats most of the point honestly.
Some attacks don't interrupt casting at all, PLD can stoneskin themselves through Akh Morns.
For attacks that do interrupt casting, the amount they hit for definitely effects the rate (getting hit for 0 will never interrupt a cast), but mob level/"ilvl" may also be factor in the base interrupt rate.
^ While I did also like this, I also just started going DRK to this and it's even better since it's a free Sole Survior.
So far I've been using Clemency for pretty much what it's meant to be used for: As an emergency heal. If the healer(s) are in a pinch then I'll cast Clemency to lighten the load. Unfortunately I don't think it's usage goes anywhere beyond that, but this does signify that PLD is relegated to being the "Clutch" tank.
WAR is the top tier tank and DRKs are slowly getting better. PLD is still the best mitigation tank but with how easy the content is, I'm not sure if that matters much right now. Maybe in Savage.
Clemency just feels like they took Equilibrium and decided "well PLD is supposed to use magic so we'll make it a spell" then they realized it had to have limitations so it couldn't be spammed and thought a 3s cast time was a good idea.
It wasn't.
It doesn't cost WAR anything to use Equilibrium and it can't be interrupted, perfect emergency heal.
PLD has to take time out of their rotation and potentially interrupt their combo for a 3s cast time that can get interrupted.
PLD is in a pretty bad state. (a week ago I wouldn't have said that) Sword oath was nerfed, I pretty much have to spam Halone to keep hate off good DPS which is now a huge DPS loss. Shield oath still falls into last place for tank stance DPS and our shield was nerfed plus the stat reset.
WAR is simpler ,leaner, faster and stronger.
DRK is faster and stronger.
Someone better pick up that phone...
Yoshida stated PLD having lower DPS is intentional because it's the best mitigation tank. I'd be fine with this if our higher mitigation wasn't regulated into diminishing returns. PLD's buffed mitigation doesn't mean anything when it's unnecessary, and something tells me SE wouldn't make DRK and WAR unviable in their future content. You'd think they would have learned this from 1.2x.
The problem is that since PLD is perfectly fine as a tank I doubt they'll buff it any time soon. As long as DF exists any job has the ability to be played. I find it sad though our best ability in this expansion is Sheltron, and even that is only usable vs Physical attacks.
Rarely use Clemency.
A4 - I'll Clemency a DPS/healer fetching successive balls if they are on the opposite side from me. Maybe some niche situations with lazers if the person isn't near you and they have two with <80% HP. The DPS has to be really slacking for it to be necessary during the Jagd Doll / Quarantine, even in Sword Oath.
A3 - Almost never; maybe theoretically during add phase where 1) both tanks end up on one side, 2) A DPS with like 70% HP gets tether and neither of us are going to be able to grab it. Never had this happen, but been close a few times. Not sure if a DPS can survive tether though? As i181 PLD with Sword Oath (/lazy) and no buffs, I want to say it takes like 65-70% of my HP. That's more than most DPS have. Guesstimating numbers though.
A2 - Rarely; typically end up getting interrupted by one of the swarm of adds
A1 - Almost never
Ravana Ex - Double prey and maybe a few other times during phase shifts where you can't DPS him anyways
What would be interesting to me is Divine Veil proc-ing from Clemency on yourself (or on another with the 50% heal on you triggering it). Since the DS shield is based on the caster's HP, PLD triggering it would be pretty sweet. It also prevents me from having to tell people "Hey, DS is up, cast on me" (PUG issue; dedicated FC folks know what's up). Then again, you may as well cross-class Cure and cast that on yourself since the shield has nothing to do with the cure potency.
While the wording of "caster's HP" is ambiguous, DV is always based on the PLD's HP.
Let's call the shield effect "Divine Shield" instead.
When you get healed with Divine Veil up, DV wears off. Divine Shield is then applied to everyone else, and is worth 10% of the DV-user's max HP (17000 -> 1700). Divine Shield will not be removed if healed while it's up.
Divine Veil doesn't really require healer input. For pugs, just use it when your HP is under 80%. Most of the time, you're going to get healed within 10s. I'm actually wondering if fairies proc it.
If Divine Veil worked like XI's Phalanx instead of just another HP shield it would've been a wonderful ability. As it stands though it's only okay. Not good but I can't say it's terrible.
It is however, needlessly complicated.
XI's phalanx is better covered by straight up DR in a game like this. For encounters to be comfortably predictable for the dev team they will shy away from a static DR number applied to a single target. Percentages just work better under the system and I can't see them moving away from that.
It was an indirect nerf.
We are forced to spam Halone (like before) to keep hate which means very little Royal. Where as DRK and WAR still get to spam their DPS combos since they are the same has their hate combos.
WAR especially can sit in Deliverance and keep hate with no issues doing their normal DPS combo and much higher DPS then 2.X where PLD is stuck with more of the same.
