When they first announced Sheltron I was hoping it was going to be like Shield Block was in WoW when I still played it, increasing your block chance for the next two attacks by 75% or something. I think if Sheltron just blocked the next two incoming attacks instead of just one it'd be a lot more useful, at least it would be reliable against some physical tankbusters that way.

There's nothing wrong with Sheltron in a vacuum, given its 30s CD. The actual problem is that there are zero physical tankbusters to use it on this tier.

Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing it block the next two attacks on a 60-90s CD, if anything it'd be a lot easier to use against cleaves (A2S/A3S).

The pauldrons on the fucking Creed Cuirass. Why? Who the fuck thought angel/bird wings and a shield across the left side of the chest were a good idea. It'd have been nice to get a full helm for once too.

1.0 dual Shield throwback is pretty appropriate given the current state of PLD.

I'd love to know how many comparative dummy parses you did of 100% identical (and flawless) rotation and timing that allowed you to see the effects of minor changes in secondary stats between 2 single pieces of same ilvl gear.

A lot. I dummy parsed to isolate how much 2 WD increases damage, then different stat comps based on what the difference was going to be if I got weapon or if I got body/ring. It wasn't too hard and only took 5 hrs or so but it was enough that I could see very tiny changes. Either way, this was only for SMN and that doesn't negate the fact that some people would buy a body piece without even seeing if it was a better progression piece.

Oh, great, can you post the weights you obtained? The tests on DRG, which is the ones I've seen, indicate a 1:10 ration on WD:STR. Is SMN higher, lower?

Well this thread made me finally understand why the OF tank forums are a complete echo chamber full of "PLD is fine" supporters.

Guess I've found a new better place to be for intelligent discussions about the state of the game. Ironic that the OF isn't the best place for such things.

Yep,

take damage? get HP exp

cast blizzard? get MP and INT exp

cast cure? get MP and MND exp

etc. It was cool idea, especially at the time it was used.

Attacking with a weapon raised the skill with that weapon (and could raise your STR)

Getting attacked would raise your defensive stats, getting dropped to low HP would raise your HP, etc.

Using White/Black magic increased your MND/INT, and individual spells would level up as well when used enough times.

I was a good idea on paper but didn't work well in execution, the remakes generally made it a bit better but you still had to know how to level things up or stuff would fall behind.

Also leveling individual spells was sooooo boring, but there were so many really useful buff spells it was a big payoff.

I've been trying to optimize an AoE rotation for PLD to get the most out of it. PLD's AoE is garbage but I feel if you're gonna do something, you should try your best.

I'm i189 with Eso Sword and Eso Shield. Full STR accessories for dungeon grinding.

Flashx3 > (FoF)Goring(CoS) > Goring > Flash > Goring > Goring > Flash.

FoF is used right before CoS so it can apply the damage buff, and FoF will still be up for the second CoS.

This is with Shield Oath of course so Flash can be all you need to maintain hate. I've reached up to 650dps with this method. Pales in comparison to WAR/DRK but I think this is the best we got.
