The attitude the devs have taken regarding tanks is bizarre and seems reminiscent of the 1.0 beta. Community consensus is that shit needs to be fixed but they just cover their ears and pretend everything is fine. These PLD changes feel insulting after 4 months of waiting and they might just result in me dropping tanking altogether since I genuinely have no interest in switching to WAR or DRK.
Oh yeah by the way there's no penalty for double WAR now, LB wise.
So yeah, double WAR new meta maybe.
But the problem is they take too long to make that change. If the required changes are very minor and there's not that much of a difference between jobs then it's fine to take your time. However, 6-9+ months of a job dragging down the group compared to its competition is too long. Especially when the next endgame event may change things again.
Like is there really any harm if PLD is slightly OP for 3.1? Imo it's far worse for a job to be OP when fresh endgame is introduced. So it would be still be far worse for WAR to be OP in 3.0 compared to PLD in 3.1. Similarly it would be worse for them to make PLD OP in 3.2 than 3.1 given it would coincide with new Alex.
The nature of lockouts especially with tome gear not sharing means they need to balance things more efficiently.
The devs aren't dumb though. They know why players are flocking to the WAR/DRK meta for raiding but really want to stick to their tank design philosophy, players be damned.
If they're not dumb, I really question their idea of a fix because they've done nothing to enforce that design philosophy.
At least when they were buffing AST they were buffing their unique abilities until they caved in and buffed their healing potencies. In this case there's nothing that really changed besides a slight DPS increase.
They'll never be needed, but it'd be nice if they weren't fucking worthless or in the case of clemency, actively detrimental.
Shield Bash adjustment is pointless... if they wanted to make it useful make it an oGCD stun. -_-;
Definitely isn't pointless for the 2 PLDs who actually play PLD in A4S!
you gotta feel bad for plds.
on the somewhat bright side, these patch notes are "preliminary" so we might get more...
Absolutely love the cynical attitude to these titles lol.
