We use an AST too, whilst its obvious the class needs some adjustments to be anywhere close to as strong as WHM/SCH, shit's perfectly workable for at the very least A1-3, haven't seen any 4 yet (I assume its "fine" there too). Healing hasn't ever been a problem past the learning phase (both optimal tank CD usage and healers knowing how much they get away with). Honestly the biggest loss in our group due to the AST is MND bonus, our SCH gets real sad that he could be doing 3% more damage! Either way he doesn't heal at all during pre-split A1 and still has time to keep DoTs up in phase 2 (though not having Divine Seal Regen on both tanks does cause a small bit of damage loss), in A2 he's still pulling almost 800 DPS (without Foes too), not having to heal at all as far as I'm aware until the 4 Jagd Doll wave (and even then he find the time to Bane those too). Anyone who thinks AST needs carried is basically just a complete moron, that doesn't mean the state of the class is fine (and I understand complete tryhard groups being exclusionary when it comes to letting AST join) but people really do overstate how "bad" the class is and a lot of the hatred is just people parroting people that don't know any better as usual (same shit happened with DRK and MCH when both classes are in a great state as is). I hope they keep it up though, because it means SE will give them some substantial buffs to quell the whining!

The problem with AST right now is that it needs to be paired with a SCH to be most efficient. It's the sad but unfortunate truth. My co-healer is a WHM so I just went back to SCH

that video with ast clearing still shows that sch is the superior, infact he was carrying them all

also if that ast is a whm they would have cleared days earlier, lets not kid yourself on thinking AST has its place. It doesnt

I don't think they've ever made job adjustments during Hotfixes. So far all of the adjustments in 3.x at least have been from 3.01 and 3.05. Until they announce a new 3.x we're probably stuck with current AST.

They're probably not going to adjust AST until a few weeks after A4S has been downed. In FCoB when DRG had flaring and obvious issues even just surviving... T13 was cleared on Nov 2nd, and we didn't get the DRG changes until Dec 8-9.

Honestly the SCH did carry. They outhealed the AST while still doing 300 DPS with less overheal. That's not to say the AST is dead weight, just what everyone already knows: AST is a touch weak and the other healer has to pick up the slack in difficult content.

Admittedly the DPS gap is less than the parse suggests since AST's contributions are more from buffing other people.
