Appears that way. Hadn't noticed the refreshed buff before while still. Huge improvement overall

I think the generic use case (outside of it being a FREE AoE regen) will be for blocking one big raid aoe with the reduction then stopping, and receiving a nice regen to fix the damage. I can't see myself sitting still for 18 seconds on most fights to get maximum benefit unless I'm dead on MP.
LA and CO having the same CD is really nice too.
So apparently Synastry works on spells cast on the Synastry target as well (ie. they receive the 40% extra healed HP even if the spell is cast on them).
Between how OP that is along with all of the other AST buffs and it being completely contradictory to the skill description, I'm gonna say that's probably not supposed to happen.
If it is intended I'd say WHM is in some serious trouble.
WHM will still have superior MP management, and can be a bit more "haphazard" with their cooldowns.
I think it's fine.
Eh, WHM is still better at dps, has the amazing Assize, Medica II is better slightly (plus longer range), and has benediction.
Incoming AST nerf, would be funny as hell considering how some people are talking.
Synastry is really strong though.
On paper it looks like the overdid the buffing but I will be interested to hear from the AST friends how it actually plays. One friend already sent me a message saying it didn't really need so much buffing, that he was doing fine without the changes so I don't know.
I barely unlocked AST so I don't know anything about it ><;;
AST will still have the following issues:
- Poor MP management
- Poor personal DPS
- Fewer emergency cooldowns
The class has less panic response than WHM and SCH, which has always been an issue, and at the end of the day the cards are still RNG.
The individual potencies on the heals weren't the only issue, it was the cooldowns the class had paired with the potencies on heals forced us to use our emergency cooldown (ED) earlier to keep up with damage, not leaving a lot of room for error. Potency change, Synastry buff, and CU buff should help this.
I would absolutely not say AST got overbuffed. We are now competitive and viable on paper, which is where we needed to be day 1.
Assuming you ever draw Balance or Arrow.

Ever.
But on a serious note, I think it's a tad bit early to say if WHM is in complete jeopardy. And even if AST proves to be better in some way, WHM certainly won't be purposefully excluded from things before this patch to the extent pre-3.07 AST was.
I do admit that the Aero line of spells really shouldn't have an ACC check though. Like, seriously. What's the deal SE-? C'mon.
But yeah, let's, yanno, wait and see what people's actual testing through practical usage yields before we get too ahead of ourselves. That's just me!
WHM is in jeopardy of becoming the new Paladin of healers. They've always been thanks to the way FFXIV functions in that DPS is king.
MND buff or not. The only thing MND will do if provide you an extra 3% of DPS for your healers in cleric stance and an extra 3% in DPS. Thanks to the fact that AST's DoTs don't require accuracy, they're in a good position with the current armor selection.
Hopefully, WHM gets some utility outside of healing. However, after my first run of expert I can confirm that ASTs are in a really fucking good spot and I'm extremely happy to be playing it now. I just wish I didn't throw ESOs at DRG now.
I think having a less technical healer is still pretty useful for error prevention. There are plenty of people who cant use Obey, can't cleric stance, and also can't use Draw reliably. Those players can function very well on WHM without too much loss of potential for their team.
Running an expert is no judge of how AST plays. Not being devil advocate or trying to be negative, just pointing out that a faceroll dungeon is no judge of how much AST has improved
When AST proved to be incompetent at 60 I switched to SCH (my previous main) and AST definitely can't touch SCH, but it will be nice if it provides an alternative to playing WHM. However as previously pointed out, unless you stuck through w/AST through the nobody wanting you periods it's too late to switch back until at least 3.1
Its the content I've ran AST through the most so I feel like its a good judge for me. Even with the WAR just pulling one group at a time, both DPS performing under 1k, with the warrior himself performing 350-400 neverreap still went by pretty fast.
Synnastry is now stupid good since you can heal the person you targe (e.g. Main Tank) and they get your 120% Benefic + the 40% (+8% buffed) healing through synnastry. Therefore you turned your 650 benefic 2 into a 1092 (Diurnal)/1146.6 (Nocturnal) heal.
Its fucking insane.
While agreeing that dungeons aren't the deciding factor, echoing how powerful they've become against trash pulls. Did a Neverreap, and I could literally go without healing a single time on the 4-6 mob pulls whenever JAs were up. Popping Synastry > Aspected Benefic > Aspected Helios > CU(just long enough for regen kick in) > Celestial Opposition > Time Dilation gave the tank over 3k/tick(down to 2kish toward the end) for 35 seconds
I can certainly use Gravity considerably more often than a WHM can use Holy now
So time to level AST again then. Got mine to 55 but ran out of enthusiasm. I have SCH so it kinda felt pointless to level Astrologian.
In all honesty, SCH is probably still the better DPS in dungeons. I'd imagine AST is just equal to or very slightly better than WHM(because of Aero3)
