So I guess using Spear, Celestial Opposition or Time Dilation aren't a thing. AST is terribly inefficient and lacking when it doesn't do stuff.

I knew this was going to be your response. If you seriously use it on Aspected Benefic's regen for "efficiency" then it speaks volumes about your play on the class... which clearly explains why you don't understand these issues being discussed; because you are not sure how to play the class yet. (I doubt you actually do use it on regen, I'm more confident in the fact that you didn't know it couldn't be used on yourself but when confronted with the fact that it doesn't actually extend cards on yourself this is the only wall you could put your back to).
Which is fine, everyone has to learn, but if you talk out of your ass like a huge fool spouting your opinion as fact regarding things you actually have no experience with then you shouldn't be surprised when people with experience do check you. All of your posts on this subject are the epitome of why Astrologian has a bad reputation right now; uneducated players without experience playing the class at a suboptimal level and claiming it's being played appropriately.
I dont get your whiteknighting on AST. when its flawed its flawed period. the other 2 have shown very strong and reasonable points why AST is flawed in some cases, yet you ignore the facts. I am not saying that AST hasnt pros compared to the other healers, but the cons outweight it currently, and the fact that the card game is RNG doesnt help in the pros department.
Um, you're assuming I didn't know it couldn't be used on myself which is completely obvious with like 2 seconds of play after getting the skill. Keep talking shit while assuming I do the things you think I do, acting like you're some sort of skill check gate holy shit lol.
I haven't ignored anything and I've even gone over what I think is weak and could be buffed. But on one hand people think AST is weak because it is't WHM or SCH and I think AST is fine and needs some minor tweaks but certainly isn't weak. People see a difference of opinion and suddenly it's white knight this, troll that and oh you ignore what people are saying. Which is funny because I'm not, people see and hear what they want.
It's funny because Uryuu is probably one of the strongest supporters for the AST class; he's not against the class being used in content like the community hivemind is. But he's also not going to deny that the class does have some issues (every class does in some way, shape or form), and its MP management is undoubtedly one of them.
Having played WHM through the same content I'm playing AST in, I will also stress that WHM's MP management is horribly, ridiculously, stupidly easier than AST's. WHM's DPS potential is much better in most situations because of more MP regen, better potency heals, Asylum, Holy stun, Assize and more. WHM's comfort level is much better due to having more than one big insta-heal ability and more AoE abilities (especially the ability to target a group without being near them with cure3).
And though I don't play it, I know SCH can pretty much echo the same thing with its own unique abilities.
This is most likely because WHM and SCH were more or less balanced before and now they've just been upgraded a ton for 3.0. AST needs quite a bit more balancing as it's brand-new, and considering customer happiness, it's far better for SE to make an underpowered job and buff it later than to make an overpowered job and nerf it (to the dismay and outraged cries of everyone who was enjoying curbstomping content).
I'm not asking for AST to be WHM. I'm asking for AST to be able to keep up with WHM at least in the main role it fulfills, which is healing. Yes it adds some buffs and has its own unique thing going on which I'm really excited about. I like AST's aesthetic more than WHM's. But the fact is it does not do anything as well as WHM does currently and MP conservation/regen is one of its major limiting factors, especially when it comes to healing in longer, more difficult fights. This may all be moot after maint tonight though. But until then, I must say I choose to play WHM over AST in most content. Reason being, the margin of error for playing in DF is much larger if you get stupid people who can't stop taking damage. It's far easier to pump out more heals on WHM without having to worry as much about running dry on MP. (PF and FC content is a different story of course).
Holy shit. I didn't think they would make it refresh for the cards. Lightspeed is fucking useful now!Lightspeed
・Now reduces MP cost of spells by 25%
・Reduction to magic potency now only affects attack magic.
・Duration has been reduced from 15 to 10 seconds.
The Ewer ・Effect has been changed from MP cost reduction to MP refresh.
・Duration has been reduced from 20 to 15 seconds.
The Spire ・Effect has been changed from TP cost reduction to TP refresh.
・Duration has been reduced from 20 to 15 seconds.
Royal Road ・Arrow and Spear:
Now doubles the duration of the next card drawn.
・Ewer and Spire:
Now reduces the potency of the next card drawn by 50%, and extends the effect to nearby targets.
Spread ・Can now be used outside of combat.
Shuffle ・Recast time reduced from 90 to 60 seconds.
Collective Unconscious ・Potency of the regen effect from Diurnal Sect has been increased from 150 to 200.
Refresh for TP/MP is so fucking hype.
Pretty much what I expected for cards but I bet it's not enough to stop people bitching that AST isn't WHM or SCH.
Can't say until I play it but sounds like some really solid changes and much-needed MP conservation tools.
SE pretty much just went down the laundry list of complaints people had, even specifically in this thread, and changed every ability the way many had asked for (the reasonable requests, of course). Hardly ever see that, pretty happy about it.
Still wish they made Spear retroactive, and I bet Shuffle will still give you dupes but overall these are nice changes. The Lightspeed buff is amazing (though it kinda makes it sound like it reduces MP rather than cast time now, hoping it's both).
Not really sure how I feel about the swapping of the two card sets around for Royal Road effects. If the Ewer refresh is notciable I'll be quite pleased though, and the Lightspeed change is a god send.
Just changing both of them to refresh is better. Ewer was only as good as the MP you were going to dump, and the amount of times I had to hold a Ewer or Spire because they love bosses jumping off screen this patch tier was pretty high. Now I can dump Ewer and Spire on someone and it will always help. That's huge.
Though as a side effect, Ewer isn't going to be useful for drk anymore...
It wasn't really that useful to begin with for DRKs though; sure it was okay for pulling multiple packs of trash in dungeons, but no DRK should ever need Ewer on a raid boss. The card was better spent on yourself or Royal Roading.
For raids defiantly, it's just while leveling a ton of drks are super bad at mp so it was kind of helpful. Just pointing out they are on their own now lol.
Yea, that's true. I had a ton of those moments leveling where I'd pull a pack of mobs and either have low MP or no MP to generate hate because I was still getting used to it, and yea, it was pretty awkward, lol.
