Word seems to be that the lack of bids from cities other than Vegas and QC is that the various groups think they'll have a better shot at plucking the Yotes/Canes/Pants on the cheap rather than paying $500M for the privilege. Can't say I disagree.

Yeah, and the whole $2m retainer just for saying "I'm interested." doesn't help things. I understand it's to stop everyone from applying for a team though.
But you know Bettman would rather get the $500m expansion fees rather than admit hockey in Florida/Arizona/Zimbabwe aren't the smartest of ideas.
Though it would be funny if it was possible to throw away $2m for the sake of saying "Richyville Fighting Tarutarus is totally gonna be an NHL franchise!"
