It's also EA just trying to pre-emptively save face in case the allegations turn into something real.
They did the same thing for NHL 04 when they replaced Thornton for Heatley, then changed from Heatley to Sakic. Only some of the Heatley ones were sold for a bit, then pulled and replaced with the Joe Sakic ones.
