There are a lot of reasons not to go to trial, NynJa, and no one knows which party requested a settlement. Many rape cases go to settlement because it's less daunting on the victim, not because they're in it to get a paycheck. And if you had been raped, you would never wish that on another person. That just goes to show how little you actually get it.

The one thing at settlement does is ensure that we will never definitively know what happened. It doesn't mean she lied and he's innocent, nor does it mean that he actually did it. We will never know what transpired if it doesn't go to trial. I'm not going to sit here and call her a liar without knowing, and believe it or not, I'm also not calling Kane a rapist without knowing.

But I'll be damned if you're going to sit there and say that a settlement definitively means that she lied, because it doesn't.

Here's the thing: Not saying guilty/innocent in this case, trying to stay neutral as I couldn't really care less about the whole ordeal.
But, suppose it was dragged out into courts and stuff, I assume the Hawks could be like "Fuck your contract, rapey!" whether he's guilty or not, but use it as reasoning to void it. So rather than risk whatever happens in a court, he'd have $10.5m a year for the next 8 years to be like "Here's some cash, shut your face" type thing, and just have it over with.

I have seen speculation of that nature, but that's all it is. Speculation. If he did it, piece of shit. If he didn't, the girl is a piece of shit. If we never know?
