Kings were going to terminate his contract the same as Mike Richards if this wasnt solved before training camp started but with him leaving they don't have to now. They also retain his rights over the next 4 years should he come back they can trade him. Sounds like he wasnt going to be a part of the team either way though.

r/hockeystreams is a pretty good free option. NHL has better links generally than the NFL/MLB; guessing it's our Soviet hockey-loving comrades helping us out there.

Voynov is totally off the cap. Its much the same as what happened when Kovelchuck left for the KHL.

Right now Richards is off the cap till this gets settled. Since the NHL approved it and had no issue with I feel like its just going to get settled out of court some how and Richards will just stay off the cap.


With Voynov officially off the books I feel like Kopitar's contract will move a lot faster now since we have a more clear picture of our cap future. I feel like Brown will be traded this year if he doesnt turn it around.

Kings will still have a 5 year cap recapture on Richards for $1.3 mil. But the termination cap recapture is way less than a buyout cap hits. Years 4 and 5 of the buyout would have been a $4.2 mil cap hit. Also the buyout would have hit for a total of 10 years.

Got talking contract buyouts the other day and General Fanager has a *Buyout this contract* button on each player. If the Preds bought out Weber today, he'd be on the books til the end of 2036/37 season. LOL

Sounds like mainly a player dump for Toronto. They were sitting at 49 contracts prior to the trade and afterwards are now at 45. Have a couple PTO's they might sign (hi2uGlencross) and some waiver options too now

So the Blackhawks just did a press conference with Patrick Kane where he said he's sorry for the distraction, is focused on hockey, and only taking hockey-related questions. And Quenneville and the Chicago brass are sitting there taking softball questions and talking about how great they are. Now they've paraded in Toews, Seabs, and a few other guys to remind everyone that they won the Stanley Cup. Although the one guy who asked Kane if he'd quit drinking has some stones.

Anyway fuck the Blackhawks.
