I would just like to say again that the League can 100% suspend Kane (WITH PAY) without fear of being sued by him or the NHLPA because they have a clause to suspend a player for doing damage to the leagues reputation. Unfortunately the league seems to be doing enough damage on their own. This is a part of the CBA and there is literally no reason not to do it outside of economic reasons.

We all commented on the pseudo smirk when asked if he would quit drinking. Kane sat there and refused to answer any questions about the ongoing investigation or pending potential charges. That's why we were all laughing. It was a joke of a news conference and the Hawks made their organization look bad by doing it.

The most likely explanation is that it was an independent event on the part of individuals in Buffalo PD. I can't really think of any reason other than a couple of homebodies thinking they're doing Kane a solid by disrupting the investigation. So, if the NHL follows up on this, they at least look like they're saying "Oh come on guys, where's your fucking integrity, we trusted j00, etc".

The NHL is in a situation where it is unwinnable. If they suspend Kane despite no charges being filed, they now play the morality police. He appeals, files suit, etc. If they don't suspend him, it looks like the league supports violence against women. There is literally no winning.

Suspending him with pay is the winning move. Don't see how he could complain about that, especially given the leeway in the CBA.
