i agree. i hear a lot of arguments for teams like the heat and lakers paying up for the siren song years of wade and kobe. because if they don't, future FA's will see that and be resistant to joining, knowing they might get the patriots treatment.

but honestly, a good organization can cut those ties early, look like dicks, but still continue to win cause they made smart business decisions overall. to me that is super fucking respectable even if it's cold. i just don't see how it is at all worth it to give wade 20m now, and kobe that ridiculous contract simply because of past contributions. you do that and you're basically killing your chances of revival when it is about to matter the most.

move on from your stars, give them and yourselves breathing room, and rebuild like you're sam hinkie. the faster you do it, the sooner you can get on track. of course, i say all this as a prime laker hater. the fact that they're going about this in such a terrible manner is pretty glorious.

i agree. kobe i can at least understand because the lakers didn't even hesitate to make the offer. he even said it himself "what am i supposed to do, tell them no? i want less?" i still fucking hate him though especially with how he mocked dirk for taking a gigantic discount.

Wade is old and injury prone, but when he's healthy he's pretty damn good. I can see why both sides expected a discount or to get paid.

As for Dirk, he sacrificed $15 mil, after Cuban blew up the team right after a championship. I see no reason for loyalty, especially that much loyalty.....

Kobe has Kupchak and Buss bros under his thumb. Remember when they could have had LeBron & Melo for less? Or Paul George (who was fucking raised in LA and loves his home)? Still paying this dude through the nose for legacy status. Kobe is a smart business man to ride that shit, however.

I agree with you, fuck that legacy shit, let new stars rise from mediocrity instead. I think everyone has had enough of Kobe anyways. He doesn't hit the headlines like he used to, other than when its a season ending injury. Team hasn't been good since 09-10.

No clue why DWade even went back. Miami having been lowballing him since forever, he shoulda just took a mid level deal with the Cavs, played one final season with a with his best friend and had best chance at another ring. Dirk still got dat fade away, just irrelevant and doesn't mind taking a back seat role ever. Just amazing all of the petty excuses we got in place of "I hate CP3." He easily forgets that CP3 is the play maker and made him look great on the court.

Mavs are p interesting with a Matthews-DJ-Dirk-Chandler core, lot of shooting combined with perimeter and interior defensive anchors. they have like 5 dudes under contract but if they fill out that roster intelligently things could get interesting fast
