Cool, thx brah.
Any more input is welcome.
Yeah, which I guess isn't awful for an MMO. I think I need to keep reminding myself to judge this game with lower standards because its an MMO but at the same time doesn't that just mean MMOs suck ass?
No, I really like Wildstar and GW2. I don't play GW2 anymore, but it was enjoyable for me, I loved the world PvP, I loved the focus on group play and synergies. A lot of people, including myself, think/thought that zergs are just zergs and the bigger they are the more you just faceroll and they're no skill etc etc. After playing that enough my opinion is drastically different and if it wasn't for the fact that I burned out on the logistics portion of it I'd still be playing.
Wildstar is more amenable to me now because you can play it casually, it's still as challenging as it ever was but you can get raids/dungeons/etc done. It'll be a different story if they ever release a new full raid tier, which I imagine they will, for now it's a lot of fun.
You know what? GW2 may well actually be alright. I honestly just never put enough time into it and I've never played WildStar.
I think I'll probably mess with GW2 more sometime since I don't have to pay anything else to play it anymore.
I played some recently, actually. Got a Thief up to 6X but got too much other stuff going on and I guess I kinda forgot about it. Might pick it back up, already paid for the xpac so that's w/e.
It's a lot different now than it was at launch.
Aside from their old F2P announcement, there's some new info here from E3: http://massivelyop.com/2015/06/25/e3...f2p-this-fall/
If I was playing FFXIV, I'd think this was gay as fuck, but the housing in Wildstar is amazing. People spend minecraft-esque amounts of time on that shit, and the neighborhoods thing sounds cool as fuck lol.
But at the end of the day you're still playing Wildstar.
I just have a mental block enjoying things in FFXIV because I feel like half the population is masturbating to their characters, whether they are a mithra or a taru.
chari as far as your 401k it depends, reducing your taxable income is always nifty but unless you can comfortably reduce it enough to drop down a tax bracket then i say fuck it. I max out my companies contribution and contribute to a roth ira. I do this because roth contributions have already been taxed which means you can pull out any money you have contributed without penalty. It serves as a nice savings vehicle and emergency fund. now if you make enough that you have a ton left over after maxing your annual roth contribution THEN you should go back to contributing to your 401k. JUST MY COUPLE OF SENSE
Invest in SE stock. CAN'T LOSE.
u guys ffxi 4ever
well i mean, an MMO's strong point is the people you play with. play with shitty people, have a shitty time. so theres that. plus, playing an MMO kinda requires a certain mental state, ive found. i played XIV from launch and after burning out on 1.0 I couldn't get back into it until a few months before HW. im not really sure why. i just couldn't get into it, even with all my friends playing. i couldn't get into ANY mmo at that point. then something clicked and i'm as addicted as i ever was to XI.
i'm not gonna say XIV is the best game ever, cos it manifestly is not. i have this entire overhaul worked out in my head where they could improve and capitalize on the armory system to make a more rewarding class system. but it IS fun to play. i just cleared bismark extreme and got to the midway point of ravana last night. it was tons of fun, because all of us had the same attitude: we looked up videos, decided the explanation for the fight was too complicated, and spent the next hour or so just throwing bodies at it and learning the mechanics on our own. so we're sittin there messin' around, theorycrafting, dying in hilarious ways, etc. good time.
An MMO is really just a framework for social interaction. It gives you a common task, a common set of experiences. If you don't capitalize on that to make new friends or hang out with old friends, all you're left with is an interesting story (or whatever other self-motivation you can contrive), and that alone isn't really worth your time.
Shit, my place stopped matching retirement a few months ago as part of cut backs. Been holding out for a bit because they pay better than surrounding hospitals, think I'm gonna be looking to jump ship soon though :/
make sure to factor in other benefits, still might be in your best interest to stay and open up your own retirement account.
