I personally have had bad experiences dealing with Subaru and almost every Subaru owner I know has had similar issues so I hesitate to recommend them.

As far as VW I'm pretty sure it was only diesel vehicles affected. Probably worth test driving one anyway, you could probably use the scandal for negotiations if you decide you like it.

I liked the 1 M coupe. e36 m3s make cheap ass track cars, once you clean up the cooling system and make sure the oil pump nut stays on.....
