Windows 10 upgrade - how would this work?

I fixed the issue (at least for the moment) but I'm not gonna get into detail because I actually broke my computer doing it which required cmd functions to fix (while booted into a USB recovery drive).

I think it's tied into the issue some people hit with the forced windows updates over the weekend that resulted in an endless bootloop

Those forced windows updates sound fun, sounds like i should wait a bit more until a mad mob uprising forces microsoft to make some changes.

Anyone else having an issue with W10 not saving the size/position of File Explorer windows? Sometimes when I close/open a file explorer window, it will be smaller (default size) and in the top left corner of the screen instead of larger and on the right like it was where I closed it. It may have to do with the auto-cascading functionality. I understand the whole cascading new copies of the file explorer when one is already open, but why try to do it if there are no other copies of the window open?

So I got my upgrade late last week, but due to being in Baltimore until late last night, I didn't get a chance to try it out. Anyway I have 2 questions:

1) Has the UI been a bit laggy for anyone else? Like when I bring up my start screen and type in something to search by it seems to take forever for the OS to pick it up.
2) Anyone else have a "No Internet Access" error and know how to fix it? See below:

You can already turn off forced updates. Nothing is going to change other than people wising up to the fact that they're retarded.

is this the GPE setting i need to disable them? it looks to be so but I wanted to be sure this is what some are talking about.



seems like even with this, you still can't choose individual updates to install. just says "install now" and i'm going to guess that means everything in the current list.

use cmd to hide the update you don't want to have installed and when it goes to install updates it will ignore that installation file until you reset it to accept the patch.

Apparently Asus ROG laptops don't like Windows 10 updates. Had to have my husband factory restore..

Mine handled the upgrade fine and was generally issue free prior to the update glitch over the weekend.

Twice now (just finished restoring, going to have to do it again now) we got a Driver Power State Failure error.

use cmd to hide the update you don't want to have installed and when it goes to install updates it will ignore that installation file until you reset it to accept the patch.

Easier in PowerShell if you wanted to go this route.

And for home versions that don't have the GPE, you can set your connection to metered as a workaround.

Looks like you can't do this with a wired connection as I'm finding out of one of my machines.

haven't checked the whole thread, so forgive me if this was addressed already.

windows 7 + firefox twitch streams fine, windows 10 + firefox (same version and same version flash) stream lags all to hell. windows 10 + chrome and twitch runs fine.

can't find anything that would be causing it, other sites like youtube etc play fine on firefox, just twitch giving me problems.

Upgrade Firefox to version 40 today if you have W10 and use Firefox. It's wayyy better and optimized.

I was along time chrome user til last year. Got tired of youtube videos always stopping or just not loading at all. I figured google was purposely screwing firefox users to get people on chrome.

Im so used to chrome now. I updated to FF40, youtube video loaded nice and fast. Idk what to do now ~_~

My only gripe has been that a needed a different plugin for everything and Chrome and to much of an LOLextent, even Internet Explorer, just let you do w/e with the need for extras.

Got a new laptop for school yesterday, installed W10 via upgrade (from Windows 8) then clean installed because lolDell bloatware, now windows 10 is saying "Windows not activated"

I assume I have to call Dell?
