If you have an SSD in your system there's absolutely zero reason to have it enabled, and I probably wouldn't even bother if I was booting off a conventional hard drive.

Dumb question (I'm pretty good at it)

If I download the Media tool here

And copy the files to the USB drive, can I use that USB on multiple PC, or will the media tool copy my licence key info on the USB and might create problems on other Pcs?

You can use it elsewhere. It doesn't copy your license key.

AFAIK nope. The digital upgrade license is bound to your mainboard (and maybe some more HW components). If you change the MB, you have to re-license w10.
Thanks to the newest w10 build, you should be able to install w10 right away with your previous windows-license key. Though that means you definitely have to re-install W10 once you have the new MB.

The more people on Windows 10, the more potential customers they have for their Windows Store, and the more return customers they will have for licenses once they Upgrade a piece of hardware (biggest crock of shit out of this whole ordeal). That is basically it. Since this seems to be the final standalone windows release, and every future "release" will be similar to what Apple does with Mac's OS, it is in their best interest that everyone using Windows is running Windows 10, and every previous Windows becomes discontinued.

At least, that's how I understand the situation. I'm holding out as long as possible to switch to Windows 10 for now, until they completely fix that hardware bullshit. Yes I'm aware there's some OEM technicality, and its not that outlandish, but I rather not think about it.

Not going to defend MS, but also:
Less pressure to support older version.
Reduce negative publicity on older versions.
Enticing people into buying other new stuff.
"Free" publicity about new OS. I vaguely recall reading that most people don't actually buy upgrades, they just grab what's installed when they change their computer (but I don't remember if this was an off the record commend or just speculation), so the monetary loss is low for MS.
Bragging rights about penetration of new system (well, in theory!).
Trying to keep people in their eco-system etc.

IMO there are some significant UI problems (which may or may not change) and some other downsides to moving on from 7 (loss of Media Center, etc) but as a whole I'm actually very impressed with Win 10. My 6 year old motherboard (with no official Win 8 support) works flawlessly without having to install any drivers manually. The footprint is very small (10.5 GB backed up with some minimal compression) and I can full reboot in 20, maybe 25 seconds.

There are certainly downsides, but I no longer have any reservations about switching to 10 full time now that TH2 is out. Redstone (next year's first release... summer-ish maybe?) will hopefully show further improvements.

Started getting some issues recently.

"System" process started eating up over 1gb of memory, so as per google/reddit I changed paging file and ever since I've been getting virtual memory crashes and freezes during games even when I changed it back to default. Hasn't been the same since. Found another option to turn off Notifications so at least it isn't going passed 500mb anymore, still having issues though.

Antimalware Service Exec. is also ramping up but it's not nearly as bad, just annoying.

Thinking I might have to do a reinstall, starting to miss Win7 but this is a lot faster so it's hard to go back.

Yeah, I'm doing weekly image backups because I'm willing to bet at some point Win 10 will lose its mind and start having things like that happen.

So I have 2 updates that fail to install every day (its for my printer) any way to tell win 10 to stop bothering with this?

Only way I've found to prevent windows from installing whatever it wants (I had to do this for graphics drivers) was to download this tool and hide the offending update(s). Idk why they removed this functionality in 10, you could do this without a tool in 7.

The option is still there but its buried in GPE and command prompt. I can't remember the exact lines you need to enter but I had done it a while back when win10 had an awesome update that sent your machine into a bootloop.

BTW, the big new update is out. I have noticed a lot fewer bugs since it went down and....I now have screensaver back. Since I upgraded, I never had the screensaver kick in, but now it does. (I think that means they fixed the HID bug.)

Had to go looking for a Starfield clone again but I'm glad to have it BACK!
