How it is true? You said "automatic downloads will continue because Microsoft". The group policy editor can be set for both notify for download and notify for installation on both pro and enterprise. And for home versions that don't have the GPE, you can set your connection to metered as a workaround.
The only context I can even fathom would be "if you use this incorrect setting I mentioned, then you will still autodownload". If that's the case: ok, yes. If you don't use the setting to turn off auto downloads, then your auto downloads won't turn off. Herp.
You're really nitpicking lol. And It's not an incorrect setting lol. He asked how to stop auto restarts. Click this. Auto restarts stop. Automatic downloads continue with the setting changed to notification, but he didn't ask for that. Herp.
Yes, you're providing a complete work around, congratulations. It's useful. Some of us were already using it, others will now too. Good.
What did Windows 10 do to Libraries? I used to have Documents pointing to my D:/ drive, but when I changed the link in Explorer now it seems like Libraries can only point to one location.
That happened to mine too. I assume it put everything to a factory setting and just needed to manually redirect the locations.
I wouldn't touch in place upgrades with a 365 foot pole.
If you check the properties of a library from the This PC location, you can only set one location. If you navigate to Libraries (I used the left nav panel in explorer) then check the properties of a specific library, it then lets you add more locations.
Anyone know if old Windows 7/8 TechNet keys upgrade to Windows 10 for free?
I'm not sure if you can do that during an upgrade, but if you're going for a clean install post-upgrade, you can simply boot with the ISO on DVD, then, when choosing to keep nothing, you can format all your drives and pick the one you want to have Windows on. Can't remember at which step exactly, but it works. I installed 10 on the same drive my previous system was on, but I don't see why it wouldn't let you install it on a different drive. Could be wrong, though.
I think i read somewhere that with OEM. You can do a clean install of 7/8 and reupgrade to 10. As long as it is same hardware(MB/CPU).
Can't say I like the bright-ass white title bar with no way to change w/o mucking around in theme files.
lol glad I'm not the only one who thought that shit was an eyesore, as something you will see on your screen 90% of the time. I'll still probably run Win10 on my work laptop, feels much better to use on a smaller screen than Win8 w/out touch.
Well, mine's working fine now. Just if you upgrade from 7, back up your stuff just in case it goes screwy.
Oh and 10 does come with a xbox gamertag thingy so you can have a gamertag without the xbox if you want (Or if you want to play solitare). Went ahead and added mine to my profile since one of my brothers has a Xbox One so thought he might want to message me. ^^ (TBH, I proly won't touch a Xbox One myself with a twenty foot pole, but it's nice to be able to poke that brother!)
So anyone else hit the nice OS shattering bug that's apparently started popping up?
Start Menu, Search Bar, Windows Update all stop functioning, and of course the error code spit out for all them is useless. Looking around it's apparently happening to a decent number of people, and Microsoft has given no date as to when they'll fix it.
Haven't seen it yet...
I couldn't get my PS3 controller to work with it so I reverted back to Windows 7
Noticed some issues with the Surface Pro 3s in dock. We dock them with the type cover attached, when we take them out of the dock, the type cover won't respond until we remove and reattach it. Quite annoying, not sure if it's 100% of the time, our testing sample is fairly small.
That was my nightmare for the night, eventually it sorted it self out after rebooting about 50 times but holy fuck that was a good chunk of my night gone. Oh well, can't have a totally flawless experience with a new OS.Code:Update in process 35% - Machine must restart to finish Update in process 75% Something went wrong, we're reverting the settings. Update in process 35% - Machine must restart to finish. Update in process 75% Something went wrong, we're reverting the settings. Update in process 35% FUCK YOU!!
I had that problem with start menu and search. Search not working happened once, I used this on the second step and it fixed it. No problems since then.
The start menu is why I had to redo my system TWICE. Ugh. Third time I figured out that some of the time at least (after the second system redo, this has worked every time) a reboot will fix it. Try that, if not call support real fast is my suggestion.
I've had np with my DS3 btw, but then I use it via USB only, seems it's most bluetooth dongles that Windows 10 hates. Give it time to get some drivers for that..THAT ACTUALLY WORK, otherwise just use your DS3 in USB mode. Oh, and I've had the best luck with the ORIGINAL drivers for DS3: Scarlet.Crush. There's a attempt to make a newer version, I haven't gotten it to work though.
