I don't think it's a good precedent to set for the players or the league that the CBA is a signed piece of toilet paper.

It's unfortunate, but that's what happens when you have a "negotiation" where one party (owners) has all the leverage. People (not you) often say "well Brady/R. Wilson/Sherman/etc" could just sit on their millions and refuse to play until owners concede, forgetting that the NFL/NHL/MLB/NBA players' associations are predominantly comprised of rank-and-file players making closer to the league minimum. These folks cannot afford to play the waiting game..
