New To SLI - Tips Needed

    Hey Guys,

So i recently just got myself another GTX 770 4GB OC to match my existing one. This is the first time iv ever run two GPUs but im pretty sure iv got everything setup correctly. Have the SLI bridge in. Nvidia Control Panel picks up the additional GPU and allowed me to enable SLI with no problems. First thing i did was check out my frames on Ultra for BF4 with the upgrade.

I ran it on Ultra - 2560 x 1440 - Monitor OC to 120hz and was averaging about 75-90 Frames on a 24 man server. No blue screens or anything but within 5 mins of playing i can notice the extra heat from the GPU. My case is a NZXT Phantom 820 and iv put in an additional 120mm Pivot fan at the end of the GPUs to help blow out the hot air.

Basically I noticed using Corsair Link to monitor Temps that the GPU got to about 80c. This seems hot to me but i know Nvidias tend to run a bit hotter but just wanted to check if this seems ok? Does anyone know if there is any good overlap temp monitor applications so i can see real time temps instead of alt tabbing etc?

Just conscious that this will run away until it all blows up haha!

    What brand are they?
if they are EVGA then Precision X will allow you to OSD the gpu temps just like frame rate from the settings panel.

They are both Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce OC 4GB Edition. I came across Precision X and have since downloaded it. I thought previously they had removed the installer from the internet or something but guess its back. Nice lookign tool but have to alt tab to view that. Thanks for the response anyways. I guess ill just keep an eye on temps. The max temp i recorded while playing BF4 has been 82c. After reading online 90c seems to be the cut off point for Nvidia maybe so ill keep and eye on that. Only other thing bothering me is that one GPU is running about 10-12c cooler than the other. Obviously to do with placement but cant have them spread apart anymore.

80°C under heavy load is perfectly fine, most GPUs get into the "throttle region" around 90-100°C. And as you said yourself, one running hotter is normal too, on most boards it's unavoidable that one card blocks the air flow of the other card at least partially.
For monitoring reasons, you could still try MSI afterburner. the additional rivatuner statistics server can hook into games and overlay at least one of the measured values, including temps, FPS, GPU load, fan speeds etc.

Great thanks. Just gave BF4 a good 30 min run as well and after using HWInfo64 the highest one GPU got to was 86c and the other was only 75c. Think the pivot fan in there is definitely helping. Good to know some of those things are normal though. Ill check out that application thanks. Might need to look at getting another 200mm Intake for the front and another 200mm Exhaust fan for the top. Have space for both of those im sure it will help right?

Good air flow never hurts ^^ Just try to balance output and input, I know that there are cooling strategies working with over- and/or underpressure, but I'm still more of a fan of equal sucking and blowing

I'm a big fan of positive pressure after setting up my HT/spare PC with 5x 120mm intake fans (w/dust filters) + 2x 80mm output fans. Overkill, yeah, but a year later of cats + dust + demo work that covered the entire first floor in dust, I opened up the PC to find absolutely nothing to clean.

That, compared to my main PC that gets caked with dust every 2-3 months.
