Wasn't subway getting blown up a few years ago for using a shady chemical found in yoga mats and tires or some shit in their bread? They seem to have gotten thru that okay which would seem way more damaging than an evil spokesperson.

I don't even like Subway anymore, but I'll still load up an Italian BLT every year with nearly every damn thing I can to time-travel to my years of button-mashing scrubs in KI2/SFEX+/SE at the arcades.

you use titanium dioxide in things you want to look blindingly white, but you can also use it in things like food and toothpaste too. acetic acid is used in a lot of chemical processes, but it's the main ingredient of vinegar. just because something is used to make non-edible stuff doesn't mean it's not perfectly harmless to eat (or even beneficial).
