According to GameXplain, the new 5.0 firmware update unintentionally allowed access to Twitter and Facebook usage:

Interface seems quite snappy. It would be nice to have actual access to such apps...

Since it hasn't been noted here, the update otherwise didn't do too much, besides add Kirby/Arms avatars.

I finally got my hands on a Nintendo Switch with copes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I'm now looking for another RPG to add to the library, and I came across Lost Sphear.

Can anyone offer any thoughts or opinions on that title? Good or bad? Or am I better off getting something else?

    Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles
Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, the open-world adventure from the former Activision producer and Rocksteady veterans at Prideful Sloth where players explore the vibrant but troubled island of Gemea, is coming soon to the Nintendo Switch. A new feature-packed photo mode allowing you to share beautiful images of the world with your friends also debuts on the Switch.

Gemea is a land filled with natural delights. The luscious forests, quiet shores, and frozen peaks are home to adorable creatures such as Fabbits and Squombles. These wild wonders beckon to those with a penchant for exploration. When a curious dark miasma floods the flora and fauna, it’s up to your hero to discover the origin of the strange substance. Create your own hero or heroine and embark on your journey of self-discovery across the gorgeous island and aid the people in need of your assistance.

Your hero quickly befriends the locals and discovers magical sprites that can dispel the dark energy known as Murk that plagues Gemea. Try your hand at farming, crafting, cooking, brewing, and fishing to create a sustainable lifestyle and help the people of the land.

Yonder’s story is spread across eight distinct biomes, each with its own day/night and weather cycles, hidden sprites, unique animals to befriend, and quests to accomplish, all at the player’s pace. There’s always something to discover behind every corner. Relax and unwind with Yonder on the Nintendo Switch – at home on the couch, on the bus, or from the comfort of your bed with a nice hot cup of tea!

“The beauty of Yonder is in its calming pace and relaxing gameplay. You’re free to explore the open world however you choose; it’s a beautiful, safe, inviting world,” said Cheryl Vance, co-founder and director at Prideful Sloth. “The Nintendo Switch lends itself to leisurely, comfortable play. It’s a great home for the unique experiences that Yonder provides.”

Yonder will be available digitally for $29.99 USD on the Nintendo eShop, and will be available via physical retail for $39.99.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles will be playable in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese.

    It's aggressively bland and mediocre.

For RPGs, I'd recommend downloading the Octopath Traveler demo, and buying Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The former is a joy, harkening back to 2D sprite-based RPGs, and the latter is a great RPG, with at least ~80 hours of storyline, or 200+ for post-game/NG+.

Lost Sphear is pretty bland when I tried the demo. For RPGs I'd look into Disgaea 5 Complete if you like tactical RPGs. Xenoblade Chronicles can be fun too though it could still use some polish.

Yeah, Xenoblade 2 has kind of a love/hate relationship for me, and probably others. There is some great stuff in that game but also some annoyances as well. I still greatly enjoyed the ~200 hours I put into it though. Luckily, some of the annoyances I've had with it have been patched or updated to not be as bad, but still not perfect lol.

I actually really liked Lost Sphere, except for one boss that just is a difficulty spike above the rest of the game.

Xenoblade 2 is a great game. It’s a definite buy considering you only have a handful of options at most anyways lol. Only real complaint I have is that it suffers too much of the whole “system within a system just to have a system” syndrome. Game could’ve been a lot more polished and streamlined.

Is the combat gameplay fun? That's all that really matters to me. I couldn't seem to get into the combat in Xenoblade on Wii U so I'm hesitant with this one.

They’re both totally different. This one focuses significantly on combos with your party, and elemental chains (like ffxi skillchains sorta). I personally loved XCX’s battle system on the wii u more, because there’s a nice satisfaction when you get this OP as fuck build like the ether blossom dance build, and it looks damn good too.

I quite enjoyed the xenoblade combat system. The game itself was surprisingly good and I just finished with over 100 hours. I finally had to just beat the game as once I got near the end all of the side stuff would have had me so distracted that I knew I would never finish it otherwise. The story is ok until about chapter 7-8, and then it really takes off.

I recommend Xeno2 like most everyone here. The combat starts off very simple but they keep adding layers to it so by chapter 4-5 (I think?) I thought it was really fun.

I went and downloaded the demo for Octopath Traveler. Cute little game! Very much old school look with some new school feel, especially the background/foreground stuff. I'm trying to grind but it's slow. Is it just me or do these low level mobs have a fuckton of HP for their level? Almost makes me afraid of encountering the first boss.

Fights should go very quickly once you get the combat system down. Attacking an enemy with its weakness lowers its shield rating, and getting it to zero will break it. Once it's broken, it's stunned for that turn, and takes a lot more damage.

Basically, you want to accumulate charges while breaking enemies' shields, then use 3x charges to maximize the damage of your best ability. Or on bosses, get their shield to 1 -> 3x charge your attack/spell buff (depending on which character you are) -> break them -> 3x charge your most powerful single target ability.

You can also use charges on Defend, which is useful before bosses' telegraphed super attacks.
