PSA part 2: people now reporting that battery banks are bricking the Switch. This has far less evidence though so it isn't as easy to confirm as the third party dock problem. Still heavily advised to refrain from using third party docks, and perhaps also battery banks unless it's an emergency. It makes sense though that this would be happening. Most modern battery banks have chips inside that communicate with the thing they're plugged into in order to see how fast they can send current. The switch's new security likely labels this as a threat.

These cases are almost absolutely not covered under warranty since they're third party accessories causing the damage. I know that Nyko at least is paying for some people's damage.

Nintendo really going draconian here.

Level-5 will release all main titles on the Switch going forward.

There will also be a 'Level-5 Vision' event for the companies 20th anniversary and will include a new major title announcement.

Nintendo has partnered with Astro to release some high quality gaming headsets. Magnetic speaker tags will feature Nintendo characters such as Mario and Link to add flair.

I think the release window is the biggest tell here. Coming for the holiday season could mean Nintendo finally wised up on internet chat functionality.

Why hasn't this been attempted yet? Seems like a novel idea that would be obvious.

is there any way to use the handheld vertically without requiring an external stand/prop? off the top of my head that seems like the only way to make it viable. joycons docked wouldn't really fly either since you'd only be able to use one half, and supporting the weight of the entire unit from the bottom does not sound comfortable or practical.

that aside, ikaruga will be an instant buy for me. one of the rare few games that i love sufficiently that i'll throw money at it on any platform i own even if they don't bother updating it in any significant way.
