Nintendo has said alot of off putting things. That the NX will be a supplemental system to the 3DS and Wiiu, making it seems like they will continue to support the wiiu. But they havent told us about any new games for it.I only get consoles for exclusives. I'm not everyone though, alot of people just want to get 1 console and play all the cross platform games and exclusives to that company. I'm sure plenty of people want their mario, zelda etc with their fallouts, CoD, sports games, and these titles are far more abundant and maybe even more popular than what nintendo has to offer as exclusives. To be profitable it doesnt have to be about hardware but 3rd party devs dont want to code the same game 3(pc, sony/microsoft, nintendo) different times to run smoothly for everyone. They barely want to code it correctly 2 times how many PC ports are absolutely unplayable at release? I don't think they should strive for 4k or VR. Sony and microsoft both know not everyone is going to run out and pay 1000 for a VR headset with a new beefed up console to support it but they know a decent amount will so they are pushing us forward slowly. Nintendo can catch up when they release their next consoles in 8~10 years (i hope)

Maybe I've missed it but I don't recall any of what you're suggesting. Supplemental system? There's been a report that Wii Us aren't being manufactured anymore. Another that the company that makes the 3DS cards is creating something new, likely for a new system. Closest thing that comes to mind is mention that the NX's game pad could be used as a hand-held. Difficulty in re-coding the game? Could of been fake-leak hype, but there were reports that the NX was the easiest console to port games to. It's been said for months that dev kits are out and about. Whether they have third parties on-board and creating launch/post launch content or not isn't something we know though.

Agree with Kirin. Reggie's comments come off as 'typical Nintendo' no doubt, but it's already been leaked (multiple sources? I forget) that it's a tad more powerful than a PS4. That's a great spot for a console, specially if they hit the scene at a good price point, something Nintendo has always been pretty good about. My only concern would be that they might be launching into a video standard change (doubtful though, 4k standard seems a good 5+ years off), similar to what happened to the Wii not long into it's life span and 720p/1080p becoming a thing. If 4k really takes off within the next 2 years, the NX could be facing a similar problem.

Maybe what i read about supplemental system wasn't from an official source i cant recall where exactly it was. I wasn't implying the NX will be difficult to code for. I have read all the rumours/leaks about how easy and almost identical it is to the Xbox one and PS4. I was referring to the WiiU i read a few things with developers talking about how horrible it was to code for and how much worse it was to attempt to get assistance from nintendo to help with coding or explain stuff. Here is one of the articles:http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...e-inside-story.

I also totally hope it falls within the performance of the ps4 and xboxone, you're right it'll be a great spot for it. And i totally don't see why it cant be priced amazingly with both of those consoles already at 300 before any store sales/gift card bonuses they've been doing left and right recently.

Its so nice to have an actual conversation then be berated like people do on reddit <_<.

The WiiU/NX supplemental system talk was more around the time NX was originally announced. It was really just PR so people wouldnt feel entirely dienfranchised who just bought a Wii U recently. With Wii U being all but discontinued, thats no longer the case and the NX will be a true sucessor system upon launch. Even if Nintendo doesn't openly admit it, they are approaching it as such.

Oh yeah, no doubt. Thought you were talking about the NX with that. It's been said earlier in the thread, but the Wii U failed for lots of reasons, porting being high on that list. Here's hoping they've learned from that and remember what it's like to have strong third party support for quality games. I'd have zero reservations about picking up an NX if I knew I'd be buying it for more than Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Smash, etc. What's crazy is that Nintendo has remained afloat off of those properties. Here's hoping that report of them wanting to make the NX a serious platform as a tribute to Iwata comes through.

And yeah, BG is tame anymore compared to reddit or any major gaming site or social media.

Not trying to white knight Nintendo or anything, I understand peoples desire for a more powerful system. But I'm kinda confused exactly which amazing 3rd party titles that aren't on the Wii U would actually have made people buy it over a ps4 or just, you know, playing it on PC. People keep saying Nintendo is alienating 3rd party companies as if there aren't tons of games developed by them on Nintendo systems. Not so much the Wii U but even first party games are kinda scarce on it... I guess it's a very specific group of 3rd party companies no one wants to list that aren't making Nintendo ports of their games.

So yeah, not calling people out but I genuinely want to know exactly what 3rd party games are missing from Nintendo that would make it better or whatever.

Surprised you'd need a list honestly. Almost no AAA game has seen a Nintendo home console port since N64 days. No main series Final Fantasy since 6 (fuck you Crystal Chronicles and having a bucket carrier), no CoD/Battlefield/Overwatch/yourfavoriteFPShere, Assassin's Creed, GTA, MGS, Shadow of Mordor, Mass Effect, Fallout, Batman, Dark Souls/Bloodborne, Witcher 3, Just Cause 3, Street Fighter, Mortal Combat X, The Division, etc. I mean, I'm just stopping there. I'm not going to say the Wii or Wii U didn't have some degree of third party support, but almost any AAA title that someone has looked forward to for the past decade has not made it to their consoles. If they had a console capable of easily supporting those ports, they may be a serious contender when it comes time to buy a console. But they haven't been.

As it stands, you buy their consoles for the first party games that you know will be a win, and the gimmicks. I'll be the first to admit loving some of the third party Wii games that made inventive use of the motion controls, and that was cool. But it was still a second console because there were so many games that I was interested in that would never grace it. I've never took the dive for the Wii U as much as Skyward Sword and Smash Bros made me want to though. Maybe if I didn't need to have a PS4 for the various cross-platform titles, I'd have the Wii U instead because I'm definitely interested in it's first party titles.

Something from From Soft would be a good start.

But really, the only people making decent third party games on Wii U are Platinum and Koei Tecmo. So, really, anywhere would be a good start.

Its not that 3rd parties are amazing its about what the average consumer buys. EA, Kojima, Ubisoft, Activision, Square-enix, Konami, Capcom, Namco-Bandai these are the 3rd parties now here are the titles. Metal gear, Battlefield, Final fantasy, All EA sports, Devil may cry,Assasins creed the list goes on because there are so many games they all make that the Wiiu will never see. Nintendo makes alot of money they will never go out of business they own some of the most popular IPs in the industry fans arent enough money for them to make home consoles profitable enough for them. The 3ds is another story that thing is a money making machine for them so 3rd parties are more then willing to make titles for it. watch this video if you want the guy explains it all really well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpqWuABmQdY . A good amount of people want to get 1 system exclusives + 3rd parties are what drive them to pick what they pick almost everything is cross platform from 3rd parties so they really just pick for exclusives they like. So would you choose nintendo which has 0 of the popular games coming out and almost no online community to enjoy stuff with or sony/microsoft which have all the popular games you can make friends online, voice chat and all the stuff. I might have generalised a bit but thats is the idea around it giving the average consumer what they want.

It's simple, you get a NX and then you do your real gaming on PC like a real gamer.

Not sure if you're trolling, but considering Microsoft's stance going forward this is getting closer and closer to the ideal situation.

Coming from E3 the only stuff not coming to PC (since it's fair to assume we'll see FFXV and XII Remake on PC at some point) is the Sony and Nintendo 1st party titles. Well, those and Madden.

Was more or less being serious because of that very reason with first party titles/locked developers, and if they're good enough to not just wait for emulation.

I don't want to jump face first into the "Nintendo is being stupid" Bash train but I mean... I have to agree Malithar. It didn't even dawn on me until he started naming the games off but yah... Nintendo has gotten no third party love in a long time. I haven't owned a Nintendo home console since Gamecube (I do own 3DS though), and i doubt i'll own a NX unless they drastically change how they handle third party games. I mean the last good one was what... Resident Evil 4 port for Wii maybe? I don't even remember.

Love the virtual consoles but those are basically a paid emulator. I considered myself a Nintendo fan first back when they made stuff like Illusions of Gaia, 7th Saga, Super Mario RPG, the Megaman X games, Mario 3, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Air Ride(Bring back that and City map!), so on, so forth... I like Nintendo's first party IPs but I also liked their non-FP IPs as much if not more in the early days. Some of the non-FP IP's are what made those earlier Nintendo generations so good.

But this isn't a Nostalgia train... I just wish Nintendo would wise up and make their system easier to design for. Or bring back Kirby's Air Ride and City Trial ⌐ ⌐, that MIGHT be enough to get me to own an NX.

Some of the game series you listed actually are on the Wii or Wii U. Several modern warefare, CoD, Mass Effect 3, MGS3 was on 3ds but meh, some Batman Arkham-whatever, several assassin's creeds, just to name a few. Everything else is on PC, basically. Besides main series FF games as you mentioned because Nintendo decided to go with carts on the 64 and lost it forever. They definitely don't have any of the newest titles from those series but that's probably more because Nintendo doesn't seem to care about the Wii U anymore than you can't develop those games for it. Even first party titles for the Wii U have been scarce since the last 2 E3s. Most Nintendo titles have been 3DS.

I have zero faith there will be many/any good launch titles on the NX aside from Zelda considering what was on the Wii/Wii U and 3DS at launch. And since they seemed to have abandoned the Wii U entirely after they announced Zelda, these next few quarters until the NX launch are probably going to suck for Nintendo.

Alot of those versions you're talking about where either vastly inferior ports (ME3 on the Wii U comes to mind) or entirely different versions of the game because the Wii U couldn't handle a proper port.

Makes sense. I think that most if not all are also on PC unless those versions are also horrible and the only thing that can be developed for is the PS4. I'm ignorant in that area because none of those games interest me.

Nintendo will always be VERY careful with the online portion of their consoles because of their target demographic. While "older" users see it as abysmal, it protects "younger" users from the the absolute gibbering cesspool of nonsense that is online. Compared to the likes of xboxlive or even PSN yes its not nearly as functional, however I have never had any issues with the WiiU online gameplay.
