Totally possible every game i think can be played on the gamepad. some have maps or inventory on the 2nd screen so switching back and forth can be annoying. In Wind waker and Twilight princess though the inventory is always open and idk if you can pause and switch stuff but if you want to switch items around you have to switch screens so don't do it during combat!

Thats what I do all the time for TWW/TP and Mario games, I think i've only hooked my Wii U to a TV once and haven't since then, main reason why I bought the Wii U.

Thats honestly how I've always envisioned the console. The "Wii U" tablet portion is redesigned as something much more similar to the 3DS and is the handheld component sold separately while the console is standard fare but can communicate with the 3DS addition like a cross between the Wii U tablet and a PS Vita TV.

I would not be surprised in the least to have it revealed the NX has support for "cartridges" like the SD cards, but I do have a hard time dismissing the removal of an optical drive entirely because the NX will almost necessitate backwards compatibility with Wii U games to help soften the pain for those of us who did adopt.

How do discs compare to cartridges, SD cards, and the like now? I don't keep up much on physical media limitations anymore. I know back in the N64/PS1 days the switch was brought on by storage space. I've read about triple layer writing for Blu-Rays but clueless about what can be done with cards now.

The issue with Carts back in the day was that they were really a hybrid of storage and a ram card, that's why their price was so high. Carts now are more just flash storage from my understanding.

Nintendo's upcoming NX will be a portable, handheld console with detachable controllers, a number of sources have confirmed to Eurogamer.

On the move, NX will function as a high-powered handheld console with its own display. So far so normal - but here's the twist: we've heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.

Then, when you get home, the system can connect to your TV for gaming on the big screen.

A base unit, or dock station, is used to connect the brain of the NX - within the controller - to display on your TV.

I'm in for a new portable from Nintendo, even better if they unify their handheld and home console in a single platform as I haven't bought a Nintendo home console since N64.

The detachable controllers thing sounds weird though, let's see how it pans out.

If this report is true, I have a hard time believing the rumors of it being "on par" with the PS4 even with technology advancement.

But then I remember their patent they filed a few months ago about basically having multiple tertiary devices do the side computing (textures, music, etc) while the core specifically focused on running the game. This could turn out to be a pretty cool concept. Basically leverage their handheld dominance into being the certain #2 console in every household and leaving Sony and MS to bicker among themselves.

Got to thinking about this, and a Tegra chip may make ports from mobile games easier while making PC/Xbox/PS4 ports a little harder.

The concept isn't a surprise to anyone. The specifics, possibly, but not the overlying features.

We also know it'll sell well, at least in terms of hardware, but software remains to be seen. Japan is gonna gobble it up because its mobile. Cue South Korea. The U.S. is more than likely to adopt it, at least initially. Europe is a giant question mark because of how shitty Nintendo has treated them with delays, but, as always, if the software is good enough, people will buy the hardware to play it.

Personally I don't see how its "dumb shit". This isnt waggle (yet), but a true extension of the Wii U gamepad taking explicit advantage of the shift to tablet and mobile gaming in console form.

If that takes off I don't see how 3rd parties can ignore it, because if it sells theyll take the time to port the 3rd party titles to a unit that makes them money. I would imagine most developers have been wondering about ways to have AAA titles reach the mobile/tablet only gaming audience. This could be it.

It already looks like it wont be competing with PS4 or X1 so I don't know what it has to do with their 2nd versions that I won't be buying.
