Info sheet up a few pages says 32G built in, but even the Wii U had storage ports so I would imagine capacity expansion is not an issue.

As for the 3D Mario footage, I was excited but cautious about that. Could easily be a small tech demo put together for the trailer, because the first area with all the brightly colored houses seemed a little too bright, but the footage with the bullet bill was encouraging.

Could also just hook up an external HD -- although the Wii U also had one extra USB port, for what it's worth.

I'm actually wondering how Nintendo will approach the DS line now.

This is a successor, but not one at the same time. Why abandon a market you technically have a monopoly on, but why dilute the same market with unneeded competition?

Not very powerful of a system to only do 60@1080p and less passed that but at least it has the capability. The 720p mobile screen is disappointing but they must be pushing hard for battery life so I'm okay with it if it's that good. It better be good.

Those specs are kinda weak (only 4gb of shared memory is alarming), but anyone expecting Nintendo to be up to date on their hardware hasn't been paying attention the last few years.

Interesting that they chose to use a touchscreen at all. I didn't get that impression from the trailer, and it would be unusable while the thing is docked, unless I'm missing something.

I heard rumors late last night that Square Enix has plans for a Switch (then NX) exclusive that would be.... Final Fantasy VI remake... unsure if want.

To me, putting a touchscreen in it is something they could get criticized for either way. On the one hand, it's a cheap inclusion that could wind up with a use. On the other, like you pointed out, they wouldn't want a game to rely on it given that it's not always accessible.

While I assumed Nintendo would just not include it, since they do tend to be cheapskates when it comes to hardware, maybe rolling it in means being able to offer Wii U or DS/3DS stuff in the eShop.

Basically its all about the battery life. If its the battery life of the current gamepad then this thing can go back to the drawing board as far as I'm concerned. But otherwise I'm very impressed with the dual functionality. It seems like what the PS Vita wanted to do but could never reach that level

Well, hard to say entirely, since the architecture is generally different, and likely built for different priorities (like having some semblance of battery life). On a basic level, it's a next-gen, custom version of Shield tablet.

That said, spec-wise, it looks to outdo a Wii U. Listed specs seem to fall a good bit short of a PS4 or Xbox One though (half the memory with a fraction of the bandwidth, etc). So I'd be skeptical about it for AAA mutiplatform ports or something.

As mentioned though, it's a lot more like a Vita successor, and there's little that'd compare to it on that front (ignoring that we'll probably have the same-ish guts available in a Tegra based Android tablet next year).
