Well the main thing is, if i don't connect the stupid things to the tablet on the dock after a few days and the battery is suddenly low i can no longer play for a few hours while i wait for them to charge. i'd like to sit back and play on my TV not be scrunched up in my chair and play on a 6 inch screen because my controllers need to charge and nintendo couldnt put a .5$ macro usb port on the joy con grip? I can do it with every other controller and system, the batteries get low just plug it into the outlet right next to me didn't have to pay an extra 30$ for it either. My main problem is just the port is pennies to include in the grip and manufacturing 2 different types seems idiotic , seems like a money grab for something that should have been included.

I'm sure in 2~3 years they will sort this sillyness out and have bundles with games and the charging grip for 250 . Thats when i'll pick one up.

But wouldn't that mean you would either:

    A) Have to have a Grip that is plugged into power at all times or
    B) Have the Grip be a giant rechargeable battery capable of charging the JoyCons which you eventually would have to recharge.

The Wii-U technically does this with the gamepad and it is a bit annoying but thankfully they have a small enough cord for charging that doesn't get in the way.

Nintendo's option for the Switch is pretty damn pricey though because for $110, you can have a spare JoyCon charging while you are using a different set of JoyCons on the grip. The charger can charge up to 4 JoyCons, and I probably will never have more than the basic two, so most likely will swap between the pro controller (or 3rd party variant hopefully) and the JoyCons.

It's more about connivence than anything else and it won't matter much until later in a system ownership. While the Joy-Cons have an approx 20hr battery life, the batteries are unremovable and will deteriorate over time. The grip that comes with the system is no more than a piece of plastic that can create a larger controller. While the charging grip will do the same thing, but you can plug it into a power source much like the current range of controllers available. The recharge time for the Joy-Cons is an estimated 3 and 1/2 hours.

Well the grip isn't just plastic, it has LEDs to indicate what player # you are, similar to the PS3 controllers so it will consume power from the joy cons. The amount of power for the LEDs will most likely be nothing though, but seriously i looked up how much the ports are they are like .10 each for 10, nintendo definitely could have gotten them for like a penny each for a bulk order lol another penny for some wire? oh no now nintendo bankrupt!

This is the most ridiculous scenario I've ever heard. Do you not sleep?

If you forget to put the joy cons on the dock to charge overnight, or while you're out, for several days in a row, they might die. Unbelievable. Unacceptable.

    lol

Oh no mistake, they are nickel and diming us for silly stuff like a USB ethernet port. A charging base for the joycon controllers though is def more than an extra dime out of their pockets however, and their console is already more expensive then any one thought it was going to be. I can see why it's not standard.

It's just plastic. The LEDs are on the JoyCons themselves and simply shine through.

The actual cost of putting in charging capability is negligible. Then again, the cost for building the dock is negligible as well, and Nintendo is sticking an $89.99 MSRP on it if you want to buy another one.

Or: if you forget to put them on the dock once and then you don't play your Switch for a couple weeks (because there are no games).

New game comes out, you buy it and come back home... oh wait, your controllers are dead. Guess you'll have fun playing this game tomorrow!

This is a reality where Sleep Mode doesn't exist? These are some big ass pulls.

There's plenty of valid criticisms. This is a non-issue.

These are the same people complaining about Wii controllers requiring AA Batteries back in the day. Can't be arsed to buy a $20 4-pack rechargeable set. I'm not saying they shouldn't have, I'm just saying we could better spend our time arguing how little anyone asked for a portable console, instead of a high end dedicated top box console.

When was the last time you really forgot to plug in your controllers after using them?

When was the last time you were unable to play your game because the controller wasn't charged?

Now that we argued about the console itself let's talk about accessories

What ACC do you guys think is vital to go with the Switch?

Extra USB-C cables would be good.
    Maybe a traveling case?
Something for the Car to charge if you do alot of road?

Day 1 hour 1 minute 1 right out of the box: Screen Guard.

I think a traveling case would be smart. Normally I wouldn't bother with one for something like my 3DS, but since this is the guts of the console I'll probably want to make sure its safe.

I think charging accessories will be available enough from 3rd party groups for various other gadgets that I'm not too worried about it.

Nah, just the plastic ones. Just something to prevent scratches and stop a spiderweb shatter.

While I'd advocate screen protectors for the shitty screens on stuff like the Wii U gamepad or bottom screen on the 3DS, I haven't bothered with them for any device having a "real" screen for years. Its just gonna lower graphical fidelity/touch screen performance and serve zero purpose with how hard those displays are these days.

Not a quality tempered glass protector. Those things are the bees knees. I swear by them for every phone I've purchased. Much more responsive then the plastic ones, only downside is you get one GOOD drop before they shatter, but it's better they shatter then your actual screen.
