Watch them release a bunch more pre-orders the week before.
Just...you know its going to happen.

I'll wait for that Holiday Zelda Bundle, with all DLC included. If not, will keep waiting, I'm a patient man... RDR.. any day.. now...
Some people have superbowl ads just because they can.
Also, regardless makes the public more aware its a thing that exists and can eventually get.
Wii U complaints: Nintendo didn't do enough to publicize this as a new console.
Switch complaints: Why are they publicizing it too much??
Honestly, I'm just mad I can't buy one.![]()
I'm very interested in how many actually sell day one. Like who actually goes and picks it up. I'm such a fanboy and to be honest I'm really considering it myself.. Basically going to be a 400 dollar zelda game for a long while. Could just get the Wii U version.
That's some great revisionist history -- it's not like Sony or Microsoft have enough supply to meet demand at release. There's a reason there's a market for reselling consoles at higher prices on ebay. Is the supply less than the PS4/XB1? Maybe, I haven't seen the numbers. However, I'm more willing to attribute that to Nintendo unveiling the Switch a month and a half before release and the inability to produce an infinite supply at the snap of a finger than some nefarious plot from Nintendo to not produce enough. Some of you have such hate for anything Nintendo does that everything they do is a terrible idea.
Was the Super Bowl ad a good idea? Of course it was. Like Kaslo said, it made people aware of the product (and the scarcity). It's the exact same as Apple advertising a new iPhone at release even though it's going to sell out everywhere.
Also, I feel Nintendo didn't push a huge release because of the time of launch. It's March, a few months before E3, and really only hardcores will get in on the ground floor while mainstream will all be looking for it this fall.
Thats actually a good point too. Sell the hardcores on the new Zelda, then at E3 bring the gauntlet with Mario, Splatoon, Sm4sh, MK8, and then any 3rd party titles that are ready to go.
Also, while they may not have PS4 levels of supply available at launch, Nintendo has been producing Switch units for at least 2 months before that January direct. I expect more pre-orders to be released in the week before launch as a PR move due to "unbelieveavle demand".
Media outlets have begun to receive switch units... UI pic:

omg yes black theme you understand me
My hype levels are through the roof for the Nintendo Switch. Critical levels of hype.
I've set myself up for only disappointment at this point.
once you go black theme you never go back... to the white one.
