    Humans (AMC)

My wife and I started digging through more of our backlog and marathon'd the first season this week. Did anyone else here pick it up? It's sorta eerie and reminds me of Dollhouse in some respects. Most of the characters are really interesting and I like the direction they took in the first season.

Does anyone know how much they changed compared to the original Äkta människor?

I did enjoy this as well.

I found it to be an underwhelming show. I didn't grow any real sort of attachment to any characters (maybe one). They over dramatized certain scenes, which ended up looking stupid
    Spoiler: show
    Leo's ditch scenes
The show didn't feel like it really went anywhere, the finale felt like a normal episode that ended up going nowhere. The girl's hax0r skills seemed stupid comparing it to that of Mr. Robot. I tried it....but ultimately didn't think it was a good show.

Is this Humans from Channel 4 in the UK?

With Jemma Chan? (The Chinese girl robot).

It ended in the UK 2 weeks ago with 8 eps, if it's the same one.

The girl's hax0r skills seemed stupid comparing it to that of Mr. Robot.
Assuming we are thinking of the same girl, yes this pissed me off to no end. With a Microft Surface too! lol.

edit: just did a quick search, yes, it's the same show and it's the same girl we're thinking of

I don't think it had a budget to do much action, I was half hoping some action was involved. At one point it did temporarily reach Terminator levels for all of one scene, but very quickly died down again which was a shame.

I fake-raged when the notice came up at the end... I was hoping it'd just wrap up.

All in all, a nice concept show, exploring more our relationships with them, rather than action.

My favorite characters were the old guy and his busted ass synth. I like the concept enough to stick with it even though it was a bit uneven.

I watched it as each episode aired and wanted to really like it, but a few things just kind of struck me the wrong way:

The season as a whole felt rushed. Yeah it was only 8 episodes but should have been longer to let both events and characters develop.

And a small personal gripe since I know this show wasn't focused on "world building" buthow the hell did they have advanced robots with AI...but absolutely no other advanced technology? I mean they didn't have to have a completely futuristic setting...but literally everything else was the same technology wise.

And now the good things that they absolutely got right:

    Creepy/sexy Anita
    Niska

    ...that is all

If you don't think about it too much, watch:

And think of it was a prequel lol

(they're not related, but both set in UK)

I think it was his arthritis or w/e that stopped him. It seemed like he had the ability.

I also expected the husband to nail her in the 2nd episode. lol

Haha I actually did watch that last week. Can't apply the same gripe since it was in a remote mountain location, but at least he had a few toys in his house that made it feel a bit more "tech heavy"

Yeah seemed like the reason he bought her in the first place was just for that.

I finished S1 last night and thought it was quite good. The subtle gestures and nuances from the actors bring humor to a lot of scenes (especially Niska and Millican), and I really like their take on how the self-aware synths become so different due to their experiences.
