just trying to get the band back together
Feel like this is going to be a disaster like most video game movies but maybe they’ll somehow capture the essence of borderlands.
Sorry for not caring to read a synopsis on page one, but do we know if this will be a BL1 thing or BL2 deal? I can’t imagine they’ll want to tackle handsome Jack tbh... doubt they could ever do him justice

Confirmed for Roland
Deja vu, regardless, confirmed awful movie. Looking forward to Trailers.
What the fuck is this movie?
Edit: You know, JLC is a great actress and MAYBE JLC could pull off Tanis even though I think she's missed the age-bracket by about 30 years, because she's a good enough actress I think she could be a rambling, barely coherent, mentally unhinged drunk almost-scientist who can barely tolerate the presence of other people... but based on the cast and how weirdly missmatched they are for the tone of the character they're playing, I don't think the Actors/Actresses will be the problem, I think this is just going to be an all-star cast with an absolutely dumpster fire script written by people who know nothing about BL or the spark that makes it enjoyable.
I mean, in theory, if Kevin Hart drops his panicky little guy shtick and plays Roland like Roland, actually stretch his ability as an actor. it could be a good role for him.
But I'll be surprised if that happens. Part of the trouble with the The Happytime Murders going from concept to execution was Melissa McCarthy coming on board and adding her brand to the entire film.
That my fear, I think Kevin Hart is going to play Kevin hart, and thats it, through no fault of his own just that he'll be written that way. These "big names of their time" screams to me they're going for name-appeal since they think(know) Borderlands is a niche market to begin with... like most if not all other video game movies Its going to be written and directed by someone who knows nothing of the franchise, expects it to flop, and just wants a paycheck.
Its not so much the actors I think is the problem, its going to be the writting/direction the movie takes. The best actor/actress can only do so much with a dumpsterfire script and based on casting alone the red flags are there for me. Shit, maybe it'll be so-bad-its-good or even better, actually an almost decent movie itself. I'll wait for a trailer its just you know, my hopes aren't high knowing Hollywood and live-action VG movies to begin with lol.
JLC matches the character well enough and she's a fantastic enough actor to make it work. I'm with you on the Kevin Hart thing. All he ever plays is...Kevin Hart. I'm expecting The Rock to be announced as Brick at this point.
How they didn't pitch Roland to Idris Elba blows my mind. he'd be perfect.
i already told you peeps that they're gonna roll claptrap and roland into one character. yall know its true
I've read on Twitter what the idea of the film is and boy howdy it read awful. It was from a 2019 report of the film but it said the characters and plot would only "Vaguely resemble" the game, and the synopsis was Lilith is a "Legendary Thief" who's set to rescue the Atlas Corp's CEO's daughter (Tiny Tina) with the help of ClapTrap, Krieg(Who is Tina's bodyguard) and "Some vault hunters".
That could be old news or completely scrapped btw, its from 2019.
Jack Black got cast as Claptrap.
Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Endgame/Stuck in the Middle) Cast as Tiny Tina

Ok so they're clearly not following bl storyline so it's either a hack of the first two games or something new. Either way, I'm out.
From what I read (idk how old, like I said above), its got 0 to do with Borderlands except for borrowed names. Doesn't even remotely fit the universe and rewrites character backstories and that kind of stuff. Seems like a completely irrelevant script they slapped the BL name on for some reason
That kinda shit happens a lot.
Rights for a property will expire unless they use it so they attach it to some random script.
