With no research to backup my opinion I'd assume the primary money makers for the broadcast wing are NCIS, the reality shows (Survivor/Big Brother) and Hollywood Squares.

So are unnamed sources only valid when they confirm one's biases?
Again unless I missed some memo and Reuters got cancelled for saying something nice about Trump I'm pretty sure they're a respected and trustworthy news source.
When literally everyone is just parroting each other with "according to reports" and not providing any actual reports, yeah I find it a little sus.
Like for all we know the source is CBS itself and why would they lie about this? Hmmmmmmmm
I mean isn't that journalism 101 in this kind of situation?
A company wants to get their side of a story out to combat the bad press but doesn't want anyone's name attached to it. Even if we assume it was a 100% purely financial decision that has nothing to do with Trump the internet hive mind clearly decided otherwise and no one would want their name linked to that.
But why would we assume that? I know your MO is trying to act like the thin smoke Trump team puts out is full fledged cover for him but you just ignore that this is exactly the type of shit he does. It's way more likely that Trump caused this than a TV show that's been going on for 10+ years was just casually losing $40 million a year. The timing doesn't work in CBS' favor and neither does an anonymous source that is more than likely someone from CBS.
It would be pretty funny if Trump has the DoJ block the merger anyway.

Totally within character.
I'm saying it as a hypothetical, not that I believe it.
And don't think the show has been losing 40 million a year, and I don't see anything but the most right wing leaning places saying that.
But advertiser money dropping by 40% (as referenced in the Reuters article) while the costs of the show likely stay the same seems less than ideal from a bottom line standpoint.
I've actually seen every single episode (not counting all the interviews) of Colbert's late show. Not even joking.
But good try.
My parents watch it every night, they always have it on when I visit.

I didn't say that, I said there is no direct source for the statement. A person was told by someone else, that's the reporting they said so themselves.
Here's an example of people with an agenda and money lying or otherwise over exaggerating

meanwhile Trump is feuding with The View and was all "maybe your show is next"
David Letterman remains the GOAT of late night https://www.tvinsider.com/1262273/da...ephen-colbert/
David Letterman didn’t mince words when it came to his opinion on CBS’s decision to cancel The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. In a new interview with The New York Times, Letterman, who was Colbert’s predecessor and hosted The Late Show With David Letterman from 1993 until 2015, weighed in on the decision with biting words for his old network.
Letterman was asked if he buys CBS’s official explanation that the show was canceled for financial reasons, and he explained why he does not.
“They don’t share the books with me. All of television seems to have been nicked by digital communication and streaming platforms and on and on. TV may be not the money machine it once was. On the other hand, what about the humanity for Stephen and the humanity of people who love him and the humanity for people who still enjoyed that 11:30 respite?” he said. “He was dumped because the people selling the network to Skydance said, ‘Oh no, there’s not going to be any trouble with that guy. We’re going to take care of the show. We’re just going to throw that into the deal. When will the ink on the check dry?; I’m just going to go on record as saying: They’re lying. Let me just add one other thing, Jason. They’re lying weasels.”
"To hell with CBS. To hell with Skydance. To hell with the Winslow twins or whoever the hell these guys are."
Letterman also weighed in on the status of late-night television after The Late Show‘s cancellation and had a grim prediction: “We still have Jimmy [Kimmel and/or Fallon]. We still have Seth [Meyers]. It’s not completely dead on arrival, but I would be surprised if it lasts more than a year or so,” he said.
Ok this was great
