    Transporting large displaycases

    Greetings,

I'm currently considering buying a displaycase I'm interested in. The problem is that I'd like to have more than the metalframes with a few shards of glass stuck in both the frame and human flesh, but, according to the current owner, the case cannot be disassembled for transport (this is the case, for reference).

It doesn't need to be transported more than 10 km, though I need to have it carried to the third floor.

Are there any absolutely safe ways of achieving this? It doesn't look like the frame itself provides enough room to hold onto while carrying the case, though I also don't know if the glass will crack if we were to have the case lean downwards or carry it holding on to the sides.

The sheets within the case can be removed, by the way.

Is there anyone who has any experience or ideas? I might be able to provide more information later on.

Thank you in advance for any input!

Never moved one that shape (imagine that on its side), but I'd imagine this would work...
    1. Rent a moving truck, something with straps on the walls that you can carefully ratchet down so it stays upright but can't topple over. Thats' the easy part.
    2. Appliance dolly with straps and rubber padding to get it in and out of the truck. Likely a 2 or 3 person job as you probably can't put its weight on the sides and need to keep it at like a 70-80 degree angle while moving.

Or.. Hire a moving company to do it; they break it, they buy it.

Can the outside glass be removed? Can it be disassembled at all? if no, wrap it in bubble wrap or multiple blankets and use a refrigerator dolly.

Step 1: Collect a lot of comforters and thick blankets.
Step 2: Wrap that fucker up.
Step 3: Do what Qeo suggested, making sure it can move as little as possible... but when you use tie downs, ensure that the force is being distributed across the metal frame, not the glass.
Step 4: Pray. Or do a good luck dance. Whatever it is you do when you really don't want something to fuck up.

Thanks a lot for the advice!

I asked around, but the moving companies around here didn't even want to touch it. In the end, I wound up buying a different one made of wood; having only the front made of glass is more than enough anyway. Fits in much better, too, so I can't complain, especially because we also managed to fit it into a regular car for transport.
