Pokemon Go (Mobile July 2016)

No surprise GoFest was a flop. Their servers couldn't even handle the Gen 2 release and as far as I know they haven't done anything to improve them since then. Yes, let's get a TON of people all in one place to play AND have a worldwide co-op to help unlock features! Sounds like a great idea!

I caught my Lugia today. The one county here has a Discord for raids and I saw a Lugia with 45 mins up and posted about it. Gathered probably a good 28~ people and we split into two groups to do it. The group I was in timed out at like 2~3% on the first try, but 2 more people showed up so we added them in and gave it a second go. We just went no-dodge-mode and downed it. Took three Golden Raz and I got it. 87% Lugia with a little over 2k CP.

Now to try and get Articuno before the end of the event. I have two tries as I don't have enough to buy a raid pass. I haven't bothered with gyms because the new coin system is ridiculous. Had a mon in a gym for almost a week, came back on the same day another thing did so I got nothing for it. That and they're normally full, or if I take one.. they take it back within minutes so I get jack shit.

Go Fest shitshow had very little to do with their servers. The problem was they crammed 15,000 people into one square mile without warning cell phone service providers ahead of time. No one had cell service because the like, one tower they were ALL on is obviously not build to withstand that kind of traffic, so no one could play the game.

It was just absolutely brainless on Niantic's part. Miraculously this was the one time during an event that the PTC login servers *didn't* fail.

People not even at Go Fest were having trouble logging in, so even if the cell service worked out, their servers wouldn't have faired much better. Least, the FB groups I'm in were flooded with people unable to get in game, lagging out, etc.

Wait what went wrong on Gen 2 release? Or are you talking about the first couple hours of release, because after that it quickly stabilized...

I didn't hear anything in my area about login issues but I wouldn't be surprised to hear it. Even if you got in you had to then contend with the regular bullshit errors in pogo.

Ive seen 2 Lugia and one Articuno at that gyms real close to my house.

Can't solo em though and I don't ever see people at them. Sucks.

facebook messenger groups seem the best for organizing

Grrr. I beat an Articuno with a group of about 11 people and couldn't catch the damn thing. Really hate these catch methods from raids. Every single big one that I've come across and actually managed to beat I've never caught afterwards.

2% base catch rate. With a Golden Razzberry and a Great curveball it's closer to 10%. With an Excellent curveball it's roughly 15% I believe.

I'm 2/3 on Lugia and 1/6 on Articuno. Articuno is definitely harder to hit than Lugia, but easier to beat.

Edit: All the Go Fest bonuses have been extended for 72 more hours as well.

Stopped by a Lugia raid on the way home from work. about 15 of us there? These 3 kids that made up part of the 15 were battling with 100-300CP bugs/birds/etc... Somehow manage to beat it probably thanks to 10 of the people there beeing lvl 32-35 and actually giving a damn.

3 kids catch it in 1-3 throws bragging about how much damage they did. ran away from 8 of us.

landed a few great curveball throws myself, ran away... wtf is this game even lol.

Never did a raid with people before. Do you have to do the private group or does it just add everybody who's fighting at once?

If you just hit battle it will group the first 20 people that click it.

I think private is used if you have a ton of people and you make the group in order to group yellows, blues, red apart from eachother to maximize balls to throw. I've never been a part of a raid that had more then 15. for these Legendaries.

Public will just group everybody together, but it WILL NOT put you with a group that has already started fighting. So if there are 15 people there already fighting when you arrive, you'll be in by yourself if you try to enter. Private groups are just for when there are more than 20 people and you want to split into groups.

We have a Discord for our county (PA). We organize groups there and get an idea how many will be coming, hold off til everyone is there, then divide into groups if needed.

I would highly suggest checking FB for local groups and joining them, then ask to join the raid message group or see if they have a Discord channel set up. FB posts are unreliable and I tend to get them a day late. I love Discord.

Catch as many Articuno as you can. They'll be cycling to the next bird soon. I forget the order, but each will be available for so many days.

I can't wait for Suicune. I seriously hope they add a riding pose for buddy so you can ride you majestic beasts.

Articuno ends on the 31st, Moltres runs from the 31st to the 7th, then Zapdos from the 7th to the 14th.

Sucks Suicune is easily the worst of the legendaries

Compared to who...? Suicune has been in and out of OU since day 1 even without sheer cold.
