I'm enjoying it just walking around catching pokemons. Battles are kind of boring, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and hope it gets better. Trailers etc has a lot of features not in the game currently, if they add those have might be more fun.

So is there a definitive answer to whether it's better to to evolve Pokemon right away or level them up and then evolve?

According to the article:

"Proofpoint also says that to its knowledge this APK has not yet been seen out in the wild just yet, despite numerous website hosting Pokémon Go APKs for people to side-load."

I've no way to guarantee anything, so if you're concerned, you could un-install and re-download from google play, but I don't know what that does to your account progress, if anything. My thought is it was so early in the process, what I originally linked was likely to not have any issues at that time.

Also, they are halting the release of further 'international versions' until they fix their servers, per IGN.

Somebody used a lure at the spot right outside my work so i walked across the street to it. A bunch of people were there and we all notced that the same pokemon would pop for all of us w/in seconds. Nice to know its not RNG between people and that they all pop for everyone in the same spots at that time.

Caught a Persian and was super hype. Took like 30 balls (no joke) and 3 berries, but it finally succumbed

Found an area with 5 pokestops and a gym within a 2-3 block radius while out for a walk. Kept rubberbanding on the map everywhere except where the pokestops and gym were. Tried standing on a pokestop, rebooting the app to no avail :/

Bleh, if I seriously want to play this, I'm going to have to make detours daily to/from work. Literally nothing near my work, but I found many good spots for gyms and stops on the way. Northern KY / Cincinnati area blows for the most part unless it's downtown. Found a stop with a lure on it at a Skyline Chili, was kind of awkward. Had a car with tinted windows pull up next to me. Was two people in it who were obviously playing (could see the screen glow). Saw one look right at me, held up my phone to show I was playing too, and they pulled out lol. Didn't notice anyone else that was obviously playing but didn't go inside either. At least I was able to stock up pretty well over the course of my hour detour.

Best surprise was pulling in my apartment and finding a Ghastly, Haunter, and Koffing chilling there. Haunter glitched after hit with a pokeball and I was stuck looking at an unmoving ball. Reloaded and it was gone, wasn't in my caught list either.

That and Fearow keep showing up near me, but haven't found them yet. I got within one paw of a Persian, but it up and disappeared on me, but I caught three other pokemon in the attempt. Onyx is the other rare one where I am, and didn't find it, but took on a Nidorino (CP89) and eventually won after 6+ escapes. Wasn't even my strongest pokemon, but it's the only evolution I have so far.

We'd need to know the trainer level, but if it's all about sitting at a pokestop/gym combo for 10 hours, I dont' think it's too far fetched.
