You can use Ingress web map to figure out where a lot of the stops & gyms are. You just need to download the app and create an account.
https://www.ingress.com/intel
https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/c...ut_that_local/How did Niantic know about xyz thing nearby?
Someone playing ingress put it there. No you can't submit any more. If you still want to submit more, go bitch at their official twitters: https://twitter.com/PokemonGoApp and https://twitter.com/NianticLabs
Can I see a map of Pokestops/Gyms?
Sure! First, install Ingress from your preferred app store and make an account and then go to https://www.ingress.com/intel.
But that website is so slow!
Go install iitc
Which of these are pokestops tho?
edit: THE SERVERS FOR THIS ARE CURRENTLY PRETTY DAMN DEAD, AND THERE'S A BUG. JUST USE IITC ALONE FOR NOW
Install this plugin. Now go to the website, on the right sidebar, click on PoGo Opt. and click Load all PoGo portals. Now click the little layer thing next to the sidebar and only have these ticked.
The little spots are ingress portals, and are likely to be something in PoGo. These are gyms and pokestops that the community submitted.
You can help this database by clicking on a portal that you know is one of them, and clicking this if it's a gym and this if it's a pokestop. Then click on PoGo Opt again and click Send PoGo portals.

Hit level 8, got my first Lure module. Plan on saving it for a pokestop closer to work that has a bunch of land+water type pokemon. Only at level 8 right now and my highest CP pokemon is a Shellder at 153CP. Albeit, I've been more focused on catching pokemon/evolving them to earn EXP over training them and participating in gyms. Nice thing is that there's a gym right beside my apartment and 1 on top of my work too, so if I can get my shit high enough, I can camp out and have one at each spot lol
Finally seeing some variety too. Have caught about 26 different type of pokemon and seemingly seeing more and more new kinds as I get higher in level.
Finally got my first eevee and pikachu.
There are constant lures at all the stops are my work. I have to turn this thing off to get work done.
Lost 3 gyms during the night![]()
I am still throwing away pokeballs every day.
These lures are addicting though.
In other news, my 660 Pidgeot smoked a 800+Starmie and was left with half HP left. The CPU trainers are pretty awful.
Well it helps that you can dodge and they cannot.
And I wish I had that pokeball problem! I'm always running out.
Any interesting article popped up today. Quoted the important bits:
The future of Pokémon Go and augmented reality
Hanke has plans to add new, immersive features to Pokémon Go.
In particular, there are plans to develop Pokéstops and gyms to add depth to game play. Currently, it's possible to add a lure module to a Pokéstop to attract Pokémon, but extra capabilities are in the pipeline.
"We imagine teams building up their gyms and Pokéstops in certain ways and tailoring them to their tastes," he said.
Trading is also part of the roadmap. "We think that that in particular is going to drive a lot of cooperation, competition and social interactions between people," Hanke said. "Some of the game design features that we have in mind for Pokéstops and gyms are designed with the idea of encouraging cooperation and gameplay between players on the same team."
We are going to do things but not tell you what they are, please look forward to it.
I fucking hate Japanese gaming companies.
I know I've been beating the "You guys clearly didn't play Ingress" at all drum, but... Well, you guys clearly didn't play Ingress. The first part of that game was just leveling up; Controlling nodes was almost a waste of time if you weren't max level and the real meat of the game came from setting up fields of control. Basically, you could connect portals to other portals if no other territory was occupied by the opposite team and create a field that gave extra XP, damage and bonuses. It's kind of likely to see the GO teams do the same thing.
They were also pretty serious about hosting events in real-life: While there's not a lot to do right now, it's mostly preparing for the psuedo-raid content coming in the future. It's kinda shit when nothing else is happening, but some of the Ingress stuff was really quite neat so I'm hoping to see a redux of the Battle for DC or something. Mewtwo in Times Square could be an actual thing that happens, with pokemon teams running all over NYC to control locations to lure him out.
do we know if being XL or XS has any effect yet?
I've been too paranoid to waste stardust on an "inferior" poke so I've just been sitting on it.
Has there been any conclusions yet as far as move > evolved move translations? I would expect eeveelutions to be different anyway but still wondering if something like rattata > raticate has a set move translation
What's the "trick"? Getting the dodge timing down? I tried a few battles for shits and giggles and it was a shitshow. A fight with my Onix (with rock moves) against a bird was way closer than it should've been despite my CP and type advantages
