Are you guys just powering up your poke's before/after you evolve them or are you catching them with the high CP? Everything around me is no higher than like 60 CP

For common stuff with lots of candy after I max one (CP+Full Evolve), I'll just save and evolve as many as possible with the egg up for bonus xp.

Don't bother powering up for awhile until you're not higher level. Just save dust for the pokemon that matter, and save candy for a bunch of evolutions/catching at once while using a lucky egg. Do this and save so much time getting to the higher tier stuff.

True. I hit Lv. 10 yesterday and almost right away found a 420 CP Dodrio. I'm also seeing fodder Pokemon (Rattatta, Pidgey) with higher CP levels.

Getting kind of tired at how fast pokemon are resisting/fleeing now. lv 15 and found my first diogini. it was CP 98. I didn't want to take a chance so use a berry and a super ball and it resisted and bailed immediately. fuckin stupid when essentially a lv 1 pokemon bails on you after you use all available items

For anyone in the Houston, TX area I found a great spot with 3 Pokestops right next to each other, and one of them is a pizza joint.

Star Pizza on Washington Ave. is a Pokestop. There's another stop across the street from there, and right next to Star Pizza is Rockefeller Center which is also a Pokestop. All 3 stops had Lures up this evening and I saw at least 15 people out there taking full advantage. Myself included.

lol I live across the street from that Star Pizza, gf and I were there last night around 10:30 for a lil poke hunt. We ended up driving further into the heights. that trail between heights blvd has a ton of stops, and we ended up at Heights and 18th at Marmion park. 3 stops all with lures and 30-50 people out there. gonna be our go to stop now

It was full. gyms have a maximum number of defenders based on its level. The prestige you earn when battling/training against a Gym your team owns will work towards its next level (I.E if a Gym is 3000/5000 you need to earn 2000 prestige by battling it to level it up to a point it will accept another Pokemon). IDK how much you get per battle but I beat 4 in a row and got I think 450 prestige? Its pretty rough at higher levels.

The slots it can hold is visible when viewing the defenders, if all the dots (near the crown on the top) are filled, you cannot defend it until you level it up to add another slot. Also, enemies defeating leaders will level it down and remove 1 defender.

IDK a maximum level but I saw one with 7.



Rewards are Trainer EXP and prestige for the gym (Which levels it up and allows more defenders)... and I think thats it. But its based on how many you defeat or if you win vs all of the defenders... More wins for you means more prestige and exp.

And as for Secondary moves, there are bars near your HP that are divided into section (or not) that are your charge required to use your special move. Holding down the screen will execute the move and remove a charge bar.

thank fuck someone finally explained this shit. seems to me it would make more sense that if you beat weaker pokes at your own teams gym, you can replace them.

Wife plays on my phone in the car on the way to and from picking her up from the train. She caught a Mankey, Growlithe, Bellsprout, Kingler and a couple dupes this morning. Hit level 10, saving my Lucky Eggs until I can evolve an ass load of pokemon to powerlevel.

EDIT: Oh, I also snagged a Tentacool, and Abra, got a 100 CP Psyduck (bleh), and an 80 CP Seel (okay since it was new). Seel and Psyduck were from 5km eggs. have three more eggs going now. Got a Gloom (415 CP) and a Pinsir (572 CP) as my highest now.

be warned, I had this great set-up with my gf catching for me driving for all of 2 days, then she wanted the game and is now is as addicted as me

My wife already said she was thinking about downloading it herself. So far she hasn't.

There is a ballfield near our apartment that has a Lure on it almost always, but it's also weird for me to sit near a ballfield where a bunch of kids are playing. Next door is a community pool where the kids go during the day over the summer. It's also across from a Russian consul dormitory/office/something so there are usually police present. I don't think it'd go over well for me.

There's a college up the block that has 6-8 stops in it and a gym. I don't want to sit on a college campus, though.

Anyone know of a good site where I can match up silhouettes? I had some bird looking thing in my list and I can't recognize/remember what it was. So far the only sites I've found use the game boy sprites.

Was trying to do a gym battle, but the servers were crashing apparently.

Wife downloaded the game and told me that if you wander away from the 3 starters four times you can catch a Pikachu. Not sure if true. Shouldn't have said anything about her not downloading it yet. Only took an hour and a half after I posted.

pikachu's to my knowledge are the same as starters, seems to be random events. If this was true then other people wouldn't see those pikachus which isnt the case.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by this statement. All the pokemon, including starters, can be found through random events. I chose Charmander, but I have 2 Squirtles and have seen Bulbasaurs nearby; so we agree there. Not sure what you mean about the "If this was true then other people wouldn't see those Pikachus." When you start the game, the three starters appear on your map. I don't think anyone else sees them at that point.

The Pikachu thing apparently works, though. Wife said she did it, but when she went to catch it the servers crashed. It was around the same time I was trying to do the Gym battle.

I'm going to need to check that place out. Heights Blvd. and 18th you said? I don't live too far away from The Heights. I'm just east of it, and this neighborhood sucks for Pokemon hunting AND Pokestops. I'm actually running low on Pokeballs
