Yeah, only 2 expert dungeons and Yoshida confirmed they'll only make 2 dungeons at all from here on out in order to give us "more content and more variety of content"..basically Hard Mode Pharos, Lost City of Amdapor and Snowcloak will make up 1 expert dungeon, then 1 throwaway "story related" dungeon that drops i190 gear glamor gear.
RL friends and wife play, and MSQ additions. That's it. We don't do savage, so we're just restricted to eso grind and Alex normal. Nothing else really interests me.
Haven't touched the game in a couple of weeks tho. Last of Us remastered refueled my desire for single player games again, and now MGSV keeps me plenty entertained. Buddy of mine is also begging me to try Xenoblade, and let me borrow his copy. So it's really up in the air right now if I'll keep playing or not.
This casual, super repetitive, uninspired approach SE has taken to this game has really been a turn off. To me it feels like they have one more chance with the rest of 3.0 and possibly 4.0 to keep players interested. Can't say I'm optimistic tho.
Oh man, go play Xenoblade right now.
It's something to do. My playtime comes in waves, sometimes I will be on all week some patches only to cap and raid. Just feels nice to have a MMO to be able to play and this one is the most polished out just not shit to do atm :/
I was at 169 Frontline wins when Seal Rock was released. Got my 200 for ADS, now I'm working on Field Commander's pants and body for a fun-but-ultimately-useless RDM gearset on THM. (No matter how much Yoshida bashes me in the face while saying, "STOP TRYING TO PLAY THIS GAME WRONG," I just can't help myself.)
I have 4 more crafting jobs to get to 60. I might get the i170 tools for my three specialists, but red scrips are pretty demoralizing.
Doing Alex Savage with my raid group but we have not had the same 8 people for two consecutive runs since Alex Savage came out. If we don't get a static 8, it may become a problem.
And of course, the Most Important Thing:
getting my glamz game on point
I'm also beginning to feel like I am the only person who isn't bothered by capping esoterics. I cap it weekly just doing frontlines roulette and picking up my Alexander Wellfare gear. For all of 2.0 I capped 2 characters every week (and was sometimes capping 3 because I'd log in to FC members accounts who had busy schedules that week and couldn't cap themselves).
I mean it's free shit for a game I play already, what's the big deal? I normally just turn on iron chef or some shit and run into packs of mobs on my tank class so I get instant queues. Do you guys like stare at the screen and pay agonizing attention?
Capping esoterics is far from the problem. The underlying issue is there's nothing interested to do besides Savage. Esoterics is just harped on a lot because it's the same old shit.
Watching TV while playing a game is a symptom of a bad game.
Can anyone recommend a fun game to play while I play FFXIV?

Vertical progression just wore me out. I realize this is the current paradigm for AAA MMOs, but it just doesn't work for me at this age anymore. It was just disheartening to constantly be throwing away gear that you put a lot of blood and sweat into obtaining. I think I realized that I couldn't do the hamster wheel again while cleaning out my retainers ahead of Alex Savage; that was the last time I logged on and I think I'm likely done for good now.
To be fair, grinding has never been fun in MMOs for me and I'm sure same can be said for a lot of people. It's a means to an end, so if I have the ability to distract myself from the grind with something actually entertaining I'll do it (a large reason why I prefer FATE grinding to dungeons).
That said, saying you can distract yourself from leveling isn't a good reason to enjoy leveling. It just makes it tolerable. The payoff has to be worth it for people to ignore it, but right now it isn't.
See, I can understand this point of view. But I can understand why people feel that a game that encourages me to not want to look at it isn't necessarily doing a good job of making me want to play it. Especially when it's the same thing over and over, including the other DPS who just can't even into rotations. You know the one. He's there every time.
Crafting and fishing are 2 things I would not have been able to do if I had to do them manually all the time. It's why I was drawn more to Seal Rock as I started quitting; it was a dumb moronic Katamari of idiocy and death but at least I had to actually pay attention some of the time.
I figured this out when 2.2 was released. I spent weeks and weeks trying to farm BiS Aiming gear from BCoB, only to throw them all in the trash shortly after 2.2 came out. Why bother?
Say what you want about XI, but at least in that game I spent more time actually using a piece of gear than I did trying to obtain it.
