I havent watched it yet, but im presuming this is what you need to know:
Everyones a professional foodie, and will threaten resto owners with shitty reviews on yelp if they dont get freebies.

Simple and so accurate. Owners fear the negative feed back as much as they fear the letter grading NYC does to resturants.

Yes and no. Yelp is the enemy as well in the restaurant business. Friend's have told me that they've been contacted by Yelp representatives informing them that the restaurant needs to pay a fee to prevent bad reviews from posting. If they don't pay, then the bad reviews will get posted.

Happens more often when you notice it happening. I've been to new places just opening within weeks and people con their way to getting upgraded/free service.

Ever since Zagat sold out it's impossible to get solid food reviews for a lot of places. NYC is thankfully an exception.

Holy shit yes. Yelp reviewers are the fucking worst. None of their reviews ever accurately reflect the restaurant. They're self-proclaimed experts on food and it's hilarious.
