At the very least all the bandwagon BST(sorry, Ccl) can't easily jump onto the magic burst train like they did with BST thanks to the resistance wall NMs get. Adding more shitty mages MBing will just gimp damage into oblivion on anything that matters.

Just to clarify, are you saying the clueless mages who keep nuking in between magic bursts are gimping overall damage by constantly keeping it at a high resistant state instead of letting the NM reset or something similar? Or are you simply saying their bad damage makes the fight last longer which ends up with everyone's damage sucking cuz it's too far in its resist state? I was confused when people posted that resistance build up mechanic a while back.

I've been fighting Acuex and now I'm doing worms and he's just at max MP. I've always seen him cast on pretty much whatever he feels like in the past, but I've seen nothing now.

Assume in Woh Gates? They're too high level, thinks he will be resisted.

It must have been really exhausting whining and bitching about BST to SE until they changed it and now that they finally did you still suck. BST still out DPS you even after this patch. The patch did not change that at all.

As for standing closer: I can't. It's impossible sometimes especially in fights where the pet decides to run off or there are more than one mob and you literally can not get to your pet. Try Campaign for example, impossible to get within pet range when it has aggro from a couple of mobs. It just does not work. It's broken, end of discussion.

In a way I think you're right, if that's what you mean (granted that all that sheer damage reduction power is partially counterbalanced by the fact PUP automaton has a hard time keeping hate compared to a real tank)
But it ends there.
The other pets are far from being OP (quite the other way around) and the job in itself has never been OP not even once in the FFXI history.
Keeping a small niche like the tanking one doesn't seem to me like it "breaks" the game as BST did.

In light of this, I'm not sure PUP or the game would particularly benefit from a nerf.

I was never whining. I said that BST is still as powerful as before and the change did nothing but annoy and make it less fun to play. It was the wrong way to "fix" this. That is not whining, that is stating a fact. You may argument against it but all i read from you and the other Muppets here is ad hominem attacks. Probably because you don't have any arguments. You know who else can stand off the sides and watch while the AI kills stuff? Anybody with trusts. Sure, not high end content, but that is how I completed the RUN AF fights. Called a tank and healers, swung once at the mob, then moved out of range while they took over for me.

Hahah, so true. You can do a lot of content like that with just trusts. I used Amchuchu, Arciela, Semih Lafina and Kahara-Bahura and they can do a lot of things on their own, including voidwatch T5/6. It's pretty fun watching them. I love trying new things with them when i am bored.
